hi okay thank you, a friend of mine suggested a memory stick would that work with windows 98
It might need drivers.

hi donnie thanks so as long as the memory stick as a driver cd it should work on my 98 system, would that also work on the xp version so i could extract the info after transfering it off of my 98 system0

memory stick will work automatically in xp (or should). 98 is a different beast,(SE is better) written in the early days of usb support, it may work, it may not, it may work but blue screen or stall. USB flash drivers don't tend to come with drivers, because support has been built into windows for a decade.
A 3.5" ide disk caddy or usb connector costs less than a fiver.
if your other desktop has an ide slot inside, you can just put the old drive in the new desktop, and transfer.
or using an ethernet card, transfer the files by connecting to a router.!!
