Help! Have I killed my Raspberry plant?!!

Looking for some advice please from experienced (compared to me!) gardeners out there! I bought a raspberry plant from Homebase around 2 months ago. I left it in the conservatory and it seemed to be doing well and sprouted leaves. I'd read that raspberry plants need space and as I hadn't decided where in my garden to plant it, I transferred it over to a bigger pot and filled the pot up with potting mix from the supermarket. I also moved the plant outside. Since then the leaves turned brown and shrivelled up and the plant is looking sorry for itself. This is my first year of growing my own and I'm still learning! I must say though that my strawberries are doing really well but I love raspberries more and don't want to give up on my plant.
Any ideas greatly appreciated. Can I rescue the plant? Have I killed it. Any idea why the leaves shrivelled up?!

I don't know a lot about rasps but have managed to get lots of fruit from mine - all I've done really is water them so I've been lucky. Of the few things I know about them - I know that they are shallow rooting - the roots should be quite close to the surface and not deep under compost. So maybe when you repotted them you planted them too deep??
I'm sure someone else with a bit more knowledge will be along soon to give you some better advice.
Good luck - they are worth it in the long run!14 projects in 2014: 3/140 -
I would stick it in any bit of ground not too deep or a large pot and leave alone till the autumn, then move it before March to where you want it.
It's probably sulking at keep being moved, changing temperature and light levels and not the best time of year for planting new canes. Also could be lack of water too.
Is it a summer or autumn fruiting one?
They are usually sold in in bundles of 5 or 6 canes tied together, is yours?0 -

Some of the discount and not so discount stores have discovered that people do not understand how fruit grow and have been selling single paspberry canes for the same price as a cheap fruit bush. Split a bundle of 10 canes which would retail at £12-20 depending on variety, pot them up and sell at £3-4 each. Nice bit of profit. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -

Er... yes.
Seen at local garden centres between 75p adn 4.99 depending on how big the pot is and how high the foliage!!
Also, a strip of radishes, approx 20 seedlings for ............... wait for it.................. £3.49 :eek::eek: Too close together to mature, and no good for transplanting. Now that's what I call greedy.0 -
We went to our local large Garden Centre last weekend and they had the cheek to try selling shooted seed potatoes indivdually for £2.45 each. What a rip off.The problem is that many novice veggie growers will pay that price not realising that they could have bought a bag of seed spuds for slightly more than that price. No wonder these Garden Centres can keep expanding their premises, they must be making a fortune.....0

OMG, now I've heard it all, thats probably dearer than buying 20 ready to eat organic radishes, lovingly cuddled and hugged etc from Harrods!0 -
My local diy store had tomato plants (alot of which were bog standard moneymaker!!) the plants were only about 7 or 8 inches tall in pots you would need to transfer them out of pretty quickly for £4.99!!!!
Mind you they were being reduced to £2.99 yesterday. Still a crazy amount, means my GH contents is worth a fortune lol, pity some of my seedlings curled up and died in the heat.

I also bought mine with 3 canes tied together. I just untied them and planted them. Should I have separated the canes? Only 1 cane seems to be producing leaves.0
