O2 - more immune to haggling?

I have been an O2 customer for almost five years. In that time I've had three handset upgrades. At the moment I'm paying £35pcm for 600 minutes, 1000 texts and unlimited internet.

My contract is up in mid-July. I did all my prep, read Martin's articles on haggling, did my price comparison (3 are doing a Blackberry handset for £20pcm with a similar tariff to my current one).

Cut a long story short, the call handler was not up for haggling. She said O2 could match the tariff. However, I would have to pay £99 for the Blackberry. When I said I was thinking about leaving, she said "That's fine, I'll text you a PAC to your phone." Nothing about being put through to the "disconnections" department.

Out of interest, have O2 stopped putting people through to the "disconnections" department? I'd rather stay with O2 but it would be nice to have a shiny Blackberry :D
