Can you attach your ipad onto the computer and make it look like a harddisk drive (like you can with ipods) then scan that with your antivirus on your computer?

I don't know if that would work with a mac machine but I doubt any PC virus scanner could pick it out. As has been said to date there is no know virus for either the standard or jailbroken iPad but there is an issue with jailbroken iPads for people stupid enough not to change default passwords, otherwise it is secure, I use mine for banking and many purchases and have no fears about it's security, I have tried to access my iPad from several sources (and believe me I have the equipment, software and knowledge to do this), but found there is no way to gain unauthorised access or any open backdoor, yes my machine is jailbroken but set up correctly.

I seem to have started something here but all this discussion about "jailbreaking" has gone straight over my head. What is "jailbreaking" and do I need to worry about it regarding security on my ipad. Sorry if I seem ignorant but all I want to do is use my ipad safely.
