Churchill Motor Insurance-No Reduction

Ive always renewed with Churchill, and always managed to negotiate a small reduction in the quoted premium...they used to give me the cost of "Legal Assistance" (£26) off the premium of about £200.......However this year, no deal, full price or nothing.
Was i just unlucky, of it this a "tightening up" in general. Just wondered if anyone else had the same. I have used the comparison sites, but am loath to switch as the cheaper quotes are usually a bigger "excess"..Thanks. PS Ive hand no claims or convictions in this year.

Insurers are tightening up, we had a bad winter/lots of PI claims
How long have you been with them, if it's a long time just say 'do you really want to lose a customer because of... legal cover?' see if it works! If it doesnt and you really wanna stay with churchill you gotta pay the price!0
