3 Roaming

Hey,

I just got an upgrade from 3 (HTC Desire) and the 3g connection is a little weak in my area, there is an option on the phone to enable roaming which should give me a better signal but i am not sure if i do this will i be charged for the data use or will it still come out of my monthly allowance?

Does anyone know about this, cant seem to find anything about it on the web.

You can only access Planet 3, not full Internet roaming on Orange roaming.

it has happened to me quite a few times and i contacted three specifically about the roaming issue and i was told that (on more than on occassion) that i will not be charged for roaming in the uk as they have arrangements with some other carriers if three network cant take the load or doesnt have a network in that area etc etc. i was not billed for roaming in the bill i received yesterday and i have been on roaming numerous times in the last month with the htc desire on three.

but do remember to switch off that setting especially if you go abroad and data charges can be massive when roaming abroad. on one particular day (excluding my internet use on wifi) i managed to use up greater than 120mb over a few hours surfing / videos on the net and a bit of trying out google earth etc. so data use can run down your internet limit pretty soon if you dont keep an eye on the usage with netcounter etc. i uninstalled 3g watchdog and use netcounter instead because others reported better battery times while using netcounter instead of 3gwatchdog. i havent done any scientic analysis of battery times while using either of them but have uninstaled 3gwatchdog and use netcounter now. battery life is a bit better but probably because of a host of things i installed like power control widgets etc
