Evening All..
It's back again - Receive £100 when you switch your banking to Halifax this Friday and Saturday.
In anticipation of the almost inevitable confusion this will cause, allow me to clarify a few things:

In anticipation of the almost inevitable confusion this will cause, allow me to clarify a few things:
- This offer is not connected whatsoever to the offer currently available through promotional websites, and so the eligibility criteria are completely different.
- That said, the criteria is very simple: You must transfer, via the switching service, at least one credit and a minimum of two debits from an eligible account held elsewhere.
- You can process the transfer against an account that is already active, or against an account that you choose to open on the day. If you choose to open an account on the day, you will need to fund your account with £100 to activate it before the £100 from the incentive can be credited.
- You cannot process a transfer from BoS to Halifax or Halifax to BoS respectively.
- The incentive money will not be paid if you transfer from Lloyds TSB, although you are still welcome to make use of the switching service.

I think outofbounds made this fairly clear:-outofbounds wrote: »- You can process the transfer against an account that is already active, or against an account that you choose to open on the day. Anything I post is my opinion, so from time to time I may be wrong. I try to provide answers based in fact, however I don't know everything, so (like all posters on MSE), take what I say with a pinch of salt.0 -
Is this offer branch based and available nationwide?0
-
Do standing orders count as debits for this offer?
Thanks a lot,

'Branch based' offer?
As direct credits (e.g. wages) don't show up as 'swtichable' payments between current account providers how is this meant to be included in the transfer request? All I can think of is you must fill in an employer's request at the time of applying which Halifax could send off separately for you. Alternatively they could give you a form to give/forward to an employer yourself. (I'm wondering whether there's any way to swing it where there is no regular 'bank credit' in force on an existing current account...??) The terms given by the OP clearly imply just switching an account alone is not sufficient to qualify......under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0 -

I just rang my local branch in sheffield and they told me if you've already got a reward current account u will NOT be eligable for this its only for people opening a NEW halifax account.
So what do I do I already got 3 reward accounts? I'm sure they will not accept new for another one.0 -
Alantis I would,nt assume anything, except that Outofbounds has been pinpoint accurate with details in the past as far as halifax is concerned.
He/she is employed by halifax, so bottom of post states???.
Don,t try and open another reward unless you are not bothered on losing a few £5 accounts possibly.I have had a naughty letter.
Quite a valuable poster is OUTOFBOUNDS,what MSE is all about and still is if you ignore the pro-bank brigade, during a recession bought on largely by the banks.
I need to try for the £100 on another reward acc as just got the £50 branch offer on one, if this is only this weekend might have missed it.
Hopefully OUTOFBOUNDS can get more updates on friday as to timeframes for this £100 offer.
I am assuming in branch,so will ph and ask.
Good luck too anyone working towards it.
Just do it.You have to wing it a bit, cross each bridge as you come to it.0 -
Just a few things re the questions raised since my last post:
- The offer is now only going live in just over 80% of our regions, so if your local branch isn't offering it, there's every chance a branch in the next town is.
- Milarky: Yes, you sign a form which authorises Halifax to instruct your employer to pay your salary into our account.
-Atlantas187 - There's been constant updates about this all day, and it links in with a future project to sweep all accounts with a view to spotting those who are simply using the account for the £5 monthly reward and those who are a 'genuine' a current account customer.
Basically, all Banking Advisors have been told that the money must be given to enhance the relationship a customer has with us. In other words we want all these customers to have a ''Main Bank Relationship''. To say that this is being closely monitored by the Central Risk Team is an understatement, so you'll find that staff will not be throwing the money at just anyone. In terms of existing current accounts - if it is apparent from looking at your recent transactions that you are simply cycling £1000 through several accounts in order to get a £5 back on each, then an advisor would have a job on their hands trying to explain why they felt it necessary reward you. If on the other hand you hold an account which is seldom used and has very little activity, then changing this will enhance the relationship you have with us. Another scenario would be those who use Halifax as a spending account, and have a household or bill payment account elsewhere. No matter how much you use the spending account, an advisor could justify giving the incentive money as transferring credits and debits will enhance the relationship (allows us to view spending patterns, levels of existing commitments, obtain a more realistic view of your 'profile', therefore allowing cross sale opportunities to be identified, etc)I Work for HBoS..
