    Atilla?? :D
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

I see from the thread on here that brook posted that apparently Dr Atilla Kaman is a leading authority on them? I cant say I have seen a great deal about him in the literature so thats quite a lofty claim to make on his behalf IMHO. Type his name in to google and all you get are lots of pages advertising him for these cheap implant trips/

Yes, but did you read the other thread - of a chap from USA who went on a Hungarian dental holiday to the same dentist?

UPDATE: Unfortunately, my implant holiday in Hungary did not work from a dental point of view. The upper left implant fell out a month after our return, and when I contacted The Implant Center, they mailed me a screw to be inserted while they repaired the implant and mailed it back to me. The screw was too big. By the time they mailed me the correct size, the hole in my gum had grown closed.

Then my dentist gave me more bad news. "The two upper right implants are mobile. They've failed, and it's just a matter of time before you lose them too."

I gingerly checked them, and they moved a lot side to side. So did the bottom right impant. "They should be very firm, not mobile like that," my dentist said.

The bottom line is that concerning my teeth, I'm worse off now than before I got the implants. It won't be long before all I have are the anchors embedded in my jaws, with no implants in them. Also, the anchors are not compatible with any fixes or repairs I could get in the United States, and there is no reason to believe I could get the dentists in Hungary to make them work any better than they do now.

Now with each bite I expect an implant to pop out.

Sometimes saving money can get mighty expensive.

I've got a photobucket account and have succesfully uploaded pictures many times over the last couple of years, but this one just won't upload, i've saved it in different formats and it won't have it.
The piece above (the quote) is on adobe? Any tips to get that over? Trouble is that I can't edit it so my personal details are up for grabs that way. :(

Just thought i'd mention that my UK dentist seems to think that an implant supported denture is an option so implants do seem to be on, bone structure wise if that makes sense.

I'll also add that my regular uk dentist for the last 30 years has now retired and the uk dentist that i am seeing and have got a quote (treatment plan) from is the one that has bought his practice. I have to say that the new dentist's prices are a good 75% higher than before seemingly. (I wasn't NHS).

Did you see your previous dentist regularly? From the huge amount of work that you need doing and the amount of teeth you need extracting I would have thought it had been a long time since you had regular dental care so therefore price comparisons are not really comparable.

The point everyone is trying to get across is not are implants suitable or not but if you decide to do it bear in mind the changes , long term , you will have to make in dental care and the arrangements you might have to make for long term maintainance and what you will do if something goes wrong, as it can do even in the best surgeons hands.

One final thought the quote you have is for implant retained bridges not dentures on the top and lower teeth. These are a time bomb if you don't clean meticulously because you cannot take them out they also need regular dentist and hygienist visits to maintain. Implant retained dentures can be taken out to clean and have a much better sucess rate.

I saw my regular dentist 'regularly' over the years when I had teeth that needed seeing to but dropped off to about once a year in the latter years. He was NHS until about the last 5 years.

Whilst regular check ups are all well and good, many people simply don't go to the dentist unless they have a problem. Perhaps affordability is the underlying reason, i don't know, it's another subject anyway.
I ask how many here have their home boilers serviced once a year to press home the point?
Or how many have had a Periodic Inspection Report done on their electrical installation every 10 years as required by their home insurance company? (If you have a fire and it's deemed 'electrical' in origin and you don't have a report that the installation is fit for continued use then your insurance company may not pay out).

However, clearly the Hungarian quote is for 'implant retained bridges' rather than 'implant retained dentures' which to a layman like myself is because in the dental world the bridges option is superior to the denture option. And the Hungarian dentist is quoting on the basis that money is not a problem.

Could someone explain why so many of my teeth need extracting please? I thought it's simply because they are in the way of the implants?
Basically my problems are that UR1 & UR2 not longer hold in place with dental cement. The rest of my 'teeth' (crowns on pins) are seemingly ok. (not sure why they should also be in the firing line as not being regularly cared for? A good job done has meant many years of use without having to constantly attend to them?)
    Thanks again.
(I don't take all this advice and contributions as being freebies, I normally put something back into the community in a round about way)

We can't comment on why teeth need removing because none of us have examined you in person.

Please reread previous comments about difference for you between implant retained bridges and crowns because if you go ahead blindly I can guarantee in a few years time you will be worse off than you are now.

The very worst part of this is you have to ask questions to have things explained from a bunch of strangers off the Internet who may or may not know anything , rather than have complete explainations from people you are going to trust with your body, your health and thousands of pounds.

Please, please, please phone round local dentists find out who they refer to . Spend a bit of time and money , see someone local who you trust, who will explain everything to you and who will advise you of the cons as well as the pros of treatment. Decide if you want to go down the route of lifelong maintainance and regular (3 monthly) visits or just want as little to do afterwards as possible. Tell your dentistand they can work out the best option for you.

Your best treatment may not necessarily be the most technically demanding or expensive or high tech, it will be the treatment which you can realistically maintain. The biggest factor in how long treatment stays in for is not how well it was donebut how well a patient looks after it.

An implant retained denture is not inferior to an implant retained bridge mark. Its horses for courses. It depends entirely on the individual, their goals, their motivation and their abilities to maintain. An implant retained denture will not be wobbling all over the place. They will be fixed to implants. Just removable. There IS a difference. That said I have patients who have had their dentures (minus implants) for 40 years and they do not stop them doing ANYTHING.

I would also say that one of my biggest frustrations is the approach of only going when their is a problem. Getting lumbered with an intensive/expensive/uncomfortable/all the above treatment plan ... then saying its too expensive to go to the dentist. Now I know you dont fall in to this category mark so please dont think this is aimed at you. But to the wider populous ... regular attending IS cheaper in the long term. We can pre empt things with smaller intervetions even if its just correcting bad hygiene habits or encouraging a different toothpaste! That small filling that needs doing in year 1 could last 30 years if done then but if left for another year with a bad diet could be an extraction leading to implants dentures or bridges; or a root filling and a crown. All of which are drastically more than a small filling. So please all DO attend regularly because the only person you are hurting is you. In the pocket and in the mouth.
