Dental work abroad v UK

Hi, I'm starting my own thread, I'm going to copy/paste the jist of what has been said and commented on elsewhere.
The latest is that the Hungarian quote with 11 implants is still too expensive, so i'm now considering an alternative plan such as an implant supported removable denture? No price yet, will update soon as.
The previous post:
The price I have from a UK dentist, (an 'estimate' mind
) is £12+k for dentures (10) fixed to 4 implants upper, and a telescopic denture on the lower, I retain my middle 5 front teeth on the lower.
I've just had my first accurate 'quotation' from Hungary, based on no physical in person examination, but from providing a Q & A with a panoramic x-ray, it's for 11 implants, 6 upper, 5 lower, a set of 14 upper teeth ( I assume a bridge? Or 2 bridges?), and a set of 12 lower teeth, with my (real) middle 5 lower teeth crowned.
Both dentists include for root canel treatment as neccessary.
The Hungarian quote is also for £12k. Clearly it's for at least twice as much work though.
There are 3 separate visits to Hungary involved to factor in to that as well.

Is there a way that I can 'put up' the panoramic xray? Or ideed the hungarian quote with the pictures of the xray and highlighted stages of the proposals? (I think it's quite professional?)
Cheers, Mark0 -
scan them an use image hosting? I saved an article in the mail on sundays magazine last sunday. It was a bit of self advertising for an implantologist ... but it DOES explain neatly the problems and pit falls of going going abroad. His self advertising was that he runs a service where he will assess your mouth and suggested treatment plans and say if he thinks the plan is reasonable. I can PM you his site if you want. It was IMO a well written article even if it was self promotion.0

And the dentist involved has been up before the GDC in the past on implant-related issues! How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
I wasnt aware of that sorry! Oops!0

This is one of the advantages of having work done in the UK. You can look the dentist up in the GDC register ,check their specialist qualifications and check if they have had any GDC rulings against them.
This is a facility available easily to the general public on line.0 -
Yes, he has restrictions to do with advice, teaching and sinus lifts. Tut tut!0

To be honest Mark, unless implants won't work due to poor bone density, a removable denture will be a handicap which you'll have to live with.
Dental Treatment Abroad0 -
Hi, i've experimented with trying to put up the treatment plan and costings, including the panoramic x-ray, with superimposed implants, but can't get the pictures up, just the text, so i'm going to copy & paste here, it might become a bit of a long post but it might be useful to someone.

LR6 , UR4A dental implant is essentially a substitute for a natural root and commonly it is screw or cylinder shaped. Each implant
is placed into a socket carefully drilled at the precise location of the intended tooth.
All the common forms of tooth replacement, such as bridges or dentures can be replaced by dental implants. If you are
missing just one natural tooth, then one implant is normally all that will be needed to provide a replacement. Larger
spaces created by two, three or more missing teeth do not necessarily need one implant per tooth, however the exact
number of implants will depend upon the quality and volume of bone at each potential implant site.
