Hi. My oil light keeps on flicking on from time to time. I've checked the oil, and it was low, so I stuck a litre of oil in. It's done absolutely nothing to the level on the dipstick, and it's still very dry. The oil light is still flicking on occasionally too! What could it be? Surely a litre of oil would make a difference?
It's a 2004 1.8 Mondeo
Thanks
It wouldn't make a difference if you needed 2 litres in.....
If the dipstick is dry, you need to add more oil. The oil light is coming on because there isn't sufficient oil pressure. I suspect it comes on on cornering? Thats because the oil level drops below the pickup pipe.
In short, you're continuing to !!!!!! up your engine so I suggest you go buy some more oil or better still, take it to a garage for an oil and filter change as the little bit that is in will be well and truly knackered and full of metal filings by now.0
