if the worst comes to the worst and you cant find anything to do with it just hang it outside for the birdies (once its opened of course!!!!) can just imagine little birds with drills trying to get it open!0

When my brother or I won cocunuts at the school fete my dad would put them on a hard surface and using a hammer and a sharpening steel in the way you would a hammer and chisel he would make a hole through one of the softer circles you see at one end of the coconut to drain out the coconut milk and we would all get a drink if it was fresh and sweet. Then he would break the coconut open with a hammer and we would use table kinfes to lever the flesh away from shell and eat it. Coconuts do go rancid but I don't know how long it takes. The milk goes rancid before the flesh so even if the milk tastes bad the flesh will still probably be OK.0

I just smash them open with a hammer (outside) and prize the flesh off the shell and eat it !0

Do this with it.We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0

I went to thailand on holiday and the coconuts they sold there were great! they cost about 20p and they would cut the top off and put a straw in and they were full of milk! and the flesh was so soft it was like ice cream! they werent hairy either. I think by the time they are shipped out they are much older and the flesh goes very hard and almost dessicated. shame we cant buy them young like in thailand!0
