Eh? What's all this dual boot stuff about? OP has mentioned Parallels.
    You ever used Parallel?

Parallels is ok but you would be better off dual booting the unit and if you need to share any docs keep them on a USB stick as I do believe Parallels will share a drive with both OP's Sys.

diable - yes I have. I did mention that for ultimate performance dual booting is hard to beat, but Parallels does a really, really good job, and you don't have to worry about sharing docs as your home folder can be shared automatically.
aliblue - try running Parallels, without the DVD in the drive. You should be presented with a list of your virtual machines, delete the one you created and start again. Create a new virtual machine, and a wizard will take you through what settings to use. It will then ask you to put the Windows disc in, and will do an automated install for you. Let us know how you get on with this...

    Hi all
thanks for all your help. I finally list my blonde head last night and along with a glass of wine I installed windows 7 no probs. Have even installed my sage accounts now and poured in my accounts back ups. YAY. Off to Portugal knowing it's ready to go on my return. Feel quite proud of myself having only switched a mac on for the first time yesterday. Loving it already!!
Thanks again - keep up the good work
