Dual Boot hopefully Boot Camp will support it soon.0 -

Eh? What's all this dual boot stuff about? OP has mentioned Parallels, which is virtualisation software that allows you to run a computer inside a computer, which will save the OP from having to exit OSX to get into Windows.
OP the latest version of Parallels supports Windows 7, so you can install whichever version (say from XP up anyway) that you like. Depends on what programs you'll be running in Windows I suppose. Dual booting will eek out the best performance though as you'll be running 1 OS instead of 2.0 -
Thank you. That was what I wanted to hear. So I just push the disk in the machine then?0

You put the cd in, capture the cd in parallels, then boot the parallels machine & it will install off the cd/dvd. Just remember that your virtual copy of windows is sharing RAM with your real copy, so unless you have lots of RAM, windows XP may be a better bet than windows 7 since it uses much less RAM.0

hi
I opened paralells followed instructions on screen, put in windows cd and then got the following message:
Windows cannot access the rquired file\sources\install.wim. The file does not exist. Make sure all files required for installation are available and restart the machine. error code Ox80070003
What is that all about??0 -
Did the install start from the CD - i.e. did it say 'press any key to start from cd' and start the installation process? If so, it sounds like the CD might be damaged?0
-
No I had none of that - just started to install it itself and then the message came up. Told you - I am a real newbie to mac!!!! lol probably me. There are 2 disks in the pack - 32 bit and 64 bit. Does it matter which?0

Windows 7 works fine as a VM on OSX and is more stable than XP. Plus its prettier.Microsoft Certified IT Professional x 3 (Vista - Enterprise and Consumer, Server 2008)

If its a new mac then 64-bit should be fine. Depends whether you want to run 32 or 64 bit windowsMicrosoft Certified IT Professional x 3 (Vista - Enterprise and Consumer, Server 2008)
