Traffic Jam: Bus was literally centimetres from my bumper!

Check these pics out - taken earlier whilst we were stuck in traffic (noted down the reg number). There was a bus literally a finger length away from my bumper. And every time I moved forward, he did the same.

What I'm wondering is, if I phone the police and report him - is it worth it? Will anything be done, or are these pics no use as no reg number and not reliable etc. Will it just be my word against his? And do the police accept such a report from a general member of the public? I'd rather not the hassle of going down to make a statement and all. :o I have more important things to do.

Appreciate your comments :D

I wouldnt report it to the police as it looks like you took the pics, but you could complain to the bus company.

So what has the bus driver done that is illegal and needs reporting for then?

No damage done, I'd get on with the rest of my life if I was you.

I was verbally abused by a bus driver who almost ran into me a few months ago, I was stationary in heavy traffic, my ability to diasappear up my own exhaust pipe had mysteriously left me that day. I called the bus company and was assured it would be investigagted, I had the reg and the bus number and a couple of witnesses I got a letter that said the same and over 10 months later I have had no further word. It was the same bus company but in Manchester.

You can't get people to drive buses nowadays, so unless a Driver actually commits a crime, NO action will be taken against them.

The companies are literally tearing their hair out trying to get drivers......... So unfortunately, the bad ones get left doing the job, and the likes of me leave cos the pay is C*!p and the hours sooooooooo long.

    Tailgating - it's illegal ;)

Damage would have been done had he been a few mm forward. Had I needed to stop suddenly an RTA would have occurred. I asked for comments so that I could approach the police in the interests of road safety but clearly some people aren't interested in that instead opting for useless sarcastic comments

ok. I agree from those photo's he looks far too close. I was always taught to leave enough room in case the vehicle in front was to breakdown. It is sensible to leave yourself enough room to pull around them.

However, don't forget that a bus is Flat fronted, so may appear closer than you think. However I do appreciate that he was probably too close.

As I said before, it is unfortunate, but there are a few bad bus drivers, ( as there are car drivers), but there's not a lot the bus companies will do about it.

I don't think tailgating is applicable if you're stationary.

Sorry, but the police driver who's observing my driving said that I should never stop too close to the vehicle in front that I can't see his tyres and some tarmac.

There should be ample room to move out should the vehicle in front break down ;)
