btinternet email

Options
I have just moved from bt to plusnet. Bt have said that i will be able to use their dial up service, (which i won't be using ) and email for a month after which they will discontinue it. Will i not be able to stay with my email? didn't really want to change it. Have a lot going on with bt at the momement so don't want to confuse the issue by contacting them. Their bad enough trying to sort out complaints as it is.

Yes, you will but you will have to dial in once every 3 months or pay £15 a year. There are some threads round here with the details, hang on and I'll see if I can find them....

Thanks for that KingL that was very helpful. I will look for another email provider, haven't a clue who.

I always tell people NEVER use your ISP's email address as your main email. Sometimes I even see companies with an @btinternet or @aol email address. ALWAYS use a independent free email provider. This way you're not bound to this one ISP for your Internet connection.

I don't understand why you're surprised that you can't keep the email address. If you would live in a block of flats with a gym in the basement, would you expect that you could keep using it after you moved out? You should be happy that BT keeps this address for a few weeks.

GMail for instance. Or search Google for "free email provider"...
