  • I am travelling next Tuesday and need help finding a cheap annual travel insurance policy, they all seem to be coming out with £300 which is too much. I have bulimia, depression, anxiety and borderline personality disorder. The only medication I have been prescribed is for anxiety but I haven't taken it yet. Can anyone help me out or been in a similar situation?

    Thanks

Hope someone on here can help. We are going to New Zealand in January to visit family for 3 months. We are both over 65 but under 70 and it looks like the cheapest travel insurance will be over £400. Is there a cheaper way of doing it please? Thanks

  • I have used AA Travel Insurance for a number of years now as they provide cover in the event that a non-travelling relative, who has pre-existing conditions, should fall ill and prevent me from taking my holiday (or need to return home during holiday).

I have received a letter from the AA to say that they are no longer using that underwriter and I now need to requote using AXA. I have had a look at their terms and I don't think my situation would be covered.

I remember it took me ages to find an insurance company who would cover me in this situation. So before I spend the evening trawling the insurance quote sites I thought I would ask on this forum to see if anyone could recommend a travel insurance company that would cover me for this?

    Thanks in advance!

Have a look at the Eurotunnel policy.

  • Just looking for a bit of advice if anyone can assist. My annual travel insurance has come up for renewal and normally I would look to shop around however an immediate family member has recently been diagnosed with a serious medical condition and I am wondering if it is safer to stay with my existing insurer as it would be clear that it wasn't a pre-existing condition, or go with a new company and declare pre-existing condition? Any suggestions please?
  • During the renewal process, I think you'll find you'll be asked if anything has changed anyway.

You could always get a quote from the other company and then see what happens when you try to renew with the existing company.

It will be a pre-existing condition whether you renew or get a new policy. The odds are that your current insurer is not the cheapest for the condition in question, so you would be better with a different insurer.

    Hello MSE peeps,

I'm looking to take my kids on holiday in Europe, but we're also all planning individual trips throughout the year.

So... I'm trying to work out what the best (and cheapest/most cost effective) policy would be:
    • As they are 16 & 18 –wow, now adults – I assume family insurance is no longer valid?
    • If i take out a group insurance, can we all use this for individual travel?
    • Or 3x individual annual travel insurance policies?
I'd be really grateful for any advice.

    :cool2:

It varies from policy to policy. You need to look at the policy wording. But I would expect you can find one that would include all your family, regardless of their age. And would cover individual travel.

Thanks koruna, I'll get searching a bit deeper into the policy offerings.
