JJB - are they right?

It also has to be said that faulty shoes are always a problem area to retailers-lots of people take them back for a replacement when they fancy a new pair.I expect they deal with that all day.Good luck.0

From what I gather all that was wrong with the boots was that the tongue-tie bit on one boot came loose - hardly cause for faulty goods (You could still play football in them so reasonable purpose) As it was outwith the acceptance period and then in the 'up to 6 month' period then the onue is on to prove that the fault wasn't there when purchased - obvious it wasn't, otherwise you'd have taken them back immediately.
I think you're lucky you got a full refund and not partial if it's just for a piece of elastic on one boot. JJB have kept to the law and you got refund/replacement obliged.
From what it sounds like, you're seeking more - well ohh no, JJB sold you a boot with a broken bit of elastic - take them to the cleaners and get a billion in compensation! People on here always seem to want more than they're entitled to and it's hardly ever justified0 -
stiffnuts - thanks for all the info you have posted.
Probably made me realise that not everything is as black and white as I would like it to be.
When I hear of poor customer service I tend to avoid that shop/bank/restaurant or whatever. I am happy to pay for what I get but I expect some "service" as part of the costWe all evolve - get on with it0 -
there are two sides too these issues-trading standards rarely or never give you the customer service side-thanks to people who actually work in these type of stores we get both sides ie not just what we are legally entitled to ,but what extra we can get if we ask-politely.0

Have you even read this thread properly?!
The question was 'were JJB right not to refund for faulty goods' not 'how much can I swindle out of them'.
I have said twice I don't want to go OTT, all I wanted was a cash refund of the price paid so my son could buy some more boots (he couldn't get any in that store which he liked and were in his size) somewhere else.
The elastic wasn't loose, it had come away completely and no, he couldn't pay football in them because one boot was secured properly and the faulty one wasn't.
If you're gonna have a pop at someone, please make sure you READ what is written beforehand without jumping in head first.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0
