    Well done FZwanab :T

Just a couple more tips: if they don't eat spicy foods, start them off on milder versions and gradually build up. Mine wouldn't eat curry, but I started them off on milder curries and gradually built up the strength. Now they'll happily eat the jalfrezi we're having tomorrow.

Are they into nutrition and prices at all? I've started getting my two to read the labels and look at the prices of junk food. They were pestering me for Dairylea lunchables, so we looked at the price of those, then costed buying our own cheese, crackers etc.

We also looked at the ingredients of plastic cheese compared to ordinary cheese, and I explained all the chemicals that are added to plastic cheese are not very good for you compared to eating natural cheese. They soon worked out buying fresh ingredients and making your own Lunchables, is cheaper and you get better quality food in them. Repeat as applicable for other pestery junk food items!
Here I go again on my own....
  • Becles is right, I do this all the time and it really does rub off on the kids. My eldest was very sniffy about the plastic ham his aunt gave him whilst camping. They are forever reading labels and are generally very food aware.
  • my little one and i regularly have "picnis tea" sitting on the living room floor if too bad outside, with bowls of cucumber, grapes, melon, breadsticks, apple slices, ham, cheese etc, she loves being able to have bits of this and that and always eats healthier stuff this way...worth a try

Potatoe wedges are easy if no one has already mentioned them.. And also someone has mentioned corn on the cob, you can get small pieces frozen cob in a bag from tesco and are very handy to have in and very quick to cook. When you serve pasta dishes have you tried wholewheat pasta for a healthier version? I make banana flap jacks as a healthy snack too.
P S I don't think you are a bad parent I think you are amazing parent to be so concerned.

i dont think your childrens diet is all that bad

at least they eat some fruits and vegetables etc

my youngest used to be sooooooooooo fussy ,he was living on cereals and sandwiches and yogurt almost

as soon as he could walk his appetite went downhill and things he used to love he wouldnt eat anymore :(

now he is 4 and loves to help cook / bake and i find this helps in getting him to eat it ;) we make brownies ( sweet and savoury) muffins (ditto) flapjacks (ditto) pizza whirls etc

he now loves tuna / pasta / rice / noodles and these make up the bulk of his main meals TBH

we also try and make HM healthier versions of their fave foods

eg HM pizza with loads of veg toppings / HM chunky wedges with just a little spray of olive oil etc

HM chicken "nuggets" using chicken breast and dipped in egg and crumbs ( cracker or bread or even dried cous cous / semolina)
