I have been given a brand new Ipod touch 8gb(daughter won it and has far grander devices).

I find it absolutely remarkable what such a small device can achieve.

However I am stumped on one issue and I wonder if anyone can advise me.

I can download photos from my PC and as a test downloaded masses(in fact duplicates of some) - however I can't find any way of removing them!!!!
None of the instructions(as far as I can see) give me that option.

    Any advice please?

Check this link, if you've used Apple iTunes to sync photos -

Thanks, I have found several forums now, but it would appear you can't delete individual photos if you have downloaded via Itunes.

You can delete the whole lot via the computer with Itunes.

It would appear that if I have say 100 photos on my Ipod and want to delete 10 of them. I have to delete all 100 and then reload the 90 I want!!!

Unless I have got it wrong!!!!

  • Just in case you missed the note about Skype in one of the earlier replies I can confrim this works fine on the Touch. My daughter took hers when we went abroad last year and we were able to phone home using the free wifi in the hotel.

Calls to other skype users are of course free but you can also top up your Skype account on a pay&go basis to call mobiles/landlines at a reduced rate. Remember to top up via a cashback site - Topcashback are offering 25% off topups at the moment :j

    Enjoy!

oh optimiser. Real novice here. I have heard of skype but would not know how to get it or why I want it. Could you enlighten me? Would it cost a lot of money? Thank you

Skype is VOIP(Voice over internet protocol) telephone and video application.

On a PC you need a webcam and microphone and you can talk with a video link to anyone in the world who is similarly equipped. It is 100% free to download on your PC and the video calls are absolutely free.(you don't have to use the video facility)

You can also telephone at very cheap rates(around 1p a min to many countries Europe/USA/Oz etc) from your PC to a landline.

You will need a microphone with the IPod touch(not supplied with the 8gb model) not sure if there is such a thing as an Ipod touch camera.

    Google Skype
  • thanks for your help with this Cardew. The Skype application is free - you just download it from the Apple store once you have your ipod touch up and running. You will need some earphones with integrated microphone (a few £'s). I wouldn't bother with video unless you want to beam back some real time holiday pictures!

If email meets your needs then you don't need skype. If you expect to be using your mobile a lot then skype would be a zero or low cost option. To call free you need the other person to have skype up and running on their pc so needs a bit of organising. I usually manage this by either calling at a previously agreed time or making a quick "turn your skype on" call.

Hope this makes a bit clearer teachergirl . You can try skype.com for some more info :)

The 'handsfree' earphone/microphone supplied with normal mobile phones work on my Ipod.

One thing to note is that on the Ipod you must be switched to the Skype app to receive calls(and of course make them). On a PC you can be using any application - e.g. surfing the internet or typing a letter and you will get notification you are being called on Skype.

On the charger front I believe HMV sell a multi travel charger for ipods.
