im sorry but i dont agree i know plenty of people who have these free laptops ( we cant qualify even though have 5 kids as tax credits are that little bit too high)
What annoys me most is that a they take the whole family into consideration our tax credits are high because we have 2 on DLA who are registered special needs , so cause of that our tax credits go up that bit higher meaning for sake of that little bit extra we miss out on things like this , prescriptions are another one , rather have the lower tax credit so can get the extras if honest.
I have 5 boys and we have 1 main pc between us all, I would love to be able to get them a laptop, but we also have to pay full rent, council tax ect there dad works all hours so we have what we do have and If honest I find it annoying that the single mums i know who smoke weed most of em, ( no offence meant there but if can afford that) can get these things and even invite me round to theres were they show off the new laptop they got or pc and sit off playing games or bingo is another one< facebook another.
Im all for if they really nee it for school then the schools should have a scheme pay £5 a week or something to loan one so the kids wouldnt miss out but to just give the away which seems doing as so many esp round here have them and like to show off with them is just wrong and if that can save the goverment money and save other cuts then I say go for it .
I know prob offend some people with this post but how I feel sorry
x
i do feel sorry for you as u seem genuine , just the same as i am , i did qualify , but its got to be a first time ever as i have always worked , i think the scheme should have been looked at more in depth and cases like yours whould have been accepted , i find it disgusting that some of these are ending up on ebay ...and like you say the money will be spent on weed , the gov needs changing in this country big time0 -
I didn't say all that made the claims shouldn't get anything, I made 2 points:
1, £528 wasn't needed, I then gave examples of perfectly good cheaper computers.
2, Many claimants are chavs, not all but many.
Not too many sour grapes as I am sitting back at my other computer which costs quite a lot more than £528, but I have worked for it so its all good.
I hope you do find work, I have nothing against people out of work who want to work its the many who don't want to work.
Also as a genuine example of somebody who gained from this scheme, would you have been upset if you received a refurbed £150 laptop since you wasn't paying?Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017

make ya mind up 1 minute u say u cant afford a £528 laptop , then you say you use a refurb , then you say you ur sat back at an expensive one ... at the end of the day a pc is a pc as long as it gets u online and serves its purpose whats the prob , i think if you break down the WHOLE £528 you will find its about right , what do you pay for a months credit on a dongle in the shop as a top up ? times that by 12 ...then add the cost of the actual dongle , the new laptop , the bag , the mouse , and then we have the middle man (the supplier ) they chose only certain suppliers to stop some companies lettin the grants go on other electrical items ...so they not doing it for free , then we have the cost of delivery .... this is britain we talking about now the cost of living has gone through the roof and so has everything else ... will speak as i find you were wellout of order to say single mothers who dont know who the dad is ... have you not heard of divorce and how some single mothers end up single becuase there husbands failed to keep it in is pants !!0 -

SO you agree any PC will do to get them online (within reason), yet you then say new laptop.
Yes call £200 of that money the internet access, but do you NEED a £328.00 laptop to get online? answer me that?
I can genuinely say I don't have a spare £328 for a laptop (maybe because I spent it all on my desktop). My point is for whatever reason you could have got this grant, do you then deserve a better laptop than what most working people can afford?
There is many massive companys who deal with refurb machines, if the government set a minimum spec and agreed a price. Simply the government says yes, they contact nearest supplier and pay and they send a decent refurb laptop to you. would that have been such a wrong system?
Eg, you getting a free computer and this turns up:

Hiya thanks i agree the whole country needs looking at, yes we get dla but the boys need more we have to replair the house as rent , one of our sons dla goes to transport to and from school as we lost our appeal for free transport, he is asd , adhd and cant go alone as wanders , talks to strangers , no way could get 2 buses alone which what wouldbe, we lost on the appeal as they wanted him to go local school were he would be eaten alive, yes would be easier concept wise but in realality the boys from his junior school were he was bullied went there, my son already self harms and is anxious, the school he s in is a fair way but he loves it has made friends so why should we take him out? Its things like that they need to look at yes we may get bit extra but its gone before we see it ,
I dont work as a carer to them but couldnt as he has to be taken to school on 2 buses 9am which my mum or dad do as I take other 3 to school, then I put 3yr old in nursery 1pm have to get 2 buses to pick ds2 up at 2pm to get back home to get other boys for 3.15pm ( plus I dont drive as not got confidence)
Another son is on lower rate and his goes on nursery fees for 2 days a week so that I can have those 2 days to go shopping and clean the house so we live on out tax credits mainly.
Thats why I get so annoyed at people who are delibratly not going to work and making no effort and im all for them to have to show something and not get it all for nothing.
Im no exceptional person probably lots of others are in the same boat which is why something needs to be done.

i didnt make the decission , the gov did , but what happens with refurbs ? they dont last long , and the gov had 50,000 laptops to give out , do you think they could have got 50,000 refurbs all on the same scale , and age etc ?? then you would have had the odd few saying its broke , it dont work we want another we want a replacement , £328 left after the dongle ... ok the 2gb laptop was worth about £250-300 THEN THERE WAS the carry case and the mouse , then delivery ...then the middle mans fee , so i can see were the whole £528 was taken up , yes it did seem a lot for what was in the package but as i said earlier this is the UK prices are thru the roof of everything

-
He needs to be in year 3 in primary school to qualify.
But seeing as he's 7 you could request the pack and try
I'm sure they only asked my sons age and not school year.0 -

Everyone in life has problems at one time or another. Its fair to say that some people simply cant be bothered to get a job and are quite happy to carry on claiming.
As for me and my kids......I have always worked.....until there dad died suddenly last year
Thumbs up to you, I have had 2 strokes so had to stop work last year so I also got the grant I did stick up to say that it wasnt fair on them paying taxes and that my income was practically the same as now but I do not agree that people can say everyone who isn't now paying taxes don't for no reason. Hope you and the kids are doing ok.
