Sky in new house

Hi all, quick sky related question on behalf of a mate.
He's just moved into rented accommodation with no reception from the tv aerial for terrestrial tv. There is a connection there for a sky box and there is a sky dish on the side of the house but he's never been a sky customer. He doesn't want to have to sign up for a years subscription as he doesn't plan on stopping there for that long.
I have an old sky box I can give him, so my question is, would it be possible for him to receive freeview via the sky box if we connected it up? If so, how?
Cheers,
JR

Hi, Freeview is what you get using an aerial and Freeview box, you may be should be able to receive the free to air channels from the sky box.0

yes, assuming that the dish, LNB and cabling is intact, you can get the Sky FTA channels using an old Sky box (not Freeview, which as advised above is an entirely terrestial platform). No free lunch, and no free laptop
