Council tax help.

I'm on a debt management plan and currently pay out £900 to my creditors. I have to work 50+ hours a week to maintain the payments. I have 3 kids ,8 years, 6 years and 2 year old. I receive my entitlement of Child tax credits for but i pay full council tax.
Am i eligible to get council tax benefit even though my income is high but i do not have the disposable income due to paying out such a large amount to my debt management plan?

CTB does not take into account debts. How much is your household income?
    Gone ... or have I?

Personal debts and arrangements with creditors are usually completely irrelevant for the purposes of means tested benefits. Go to the Entitled To website to understand if you are missing any benefits, allowances or credits.

Post your statement of accounts on the Debt Free wanabee forum to get advice how to bring your repayments to a manageable level and increase your disposable income.

Didn't the debt management company take into account your 'must pay' debts such as council tax before coming up with a figure that needed to be paid, and determining that you coud adhere to it? I thought the idea of the debt management company was to work a budget with you, and determine what you COULD pay each month.

Quite a few of the debt managment company's I deal with tend to push council tax to the back when they're making offers of payment and seem to regard it as a minor debt.
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.

Im very suprised if they do that, as usually they are the quickest off the mark to send you letters if you fall behind and will take you to court if you fall behind!

I work in council tax recovery. The companies lately are generally try to put council tax behind the catalogues and the provident loans in the order of priorities which does no favours to their clients.

you definatly won't qualify for any council tax benefit with that income. Joint income about 50k? Over twice over the means tested benefits limit

I put the figure in the Money saving expert (Turn 2 us Benefit site) and it's come up with an entitlement for council tax:question:

You sure you entered it as a monthly figure and not yearly.
as you definatly won't qualify for help on 50k a year
