Half Price Sky Package Question

Hi There,
I got an offer through the post about half price package for 12 months as I cancelled my sky package last year. After thinking about it, I decided to go ahead with it and phoned today for the offer. I asked for some details about the offer in which I was told that all the information was on the card sent out to me. I also asked if i could upgrade my basic sky box to a sky plus box in which I was told I could not as they only have sky hd boxes. I was told it would cost £150 for the hd sky plus box, which I cannot afford and also stated I did not want to take out the HD offer but was told I had to. I told the guy I would have a think about it although I cannot afford to pay that amount for the HD box, so he then went on to say that I could not call back for the offer for the half price package and if i wanted that offer, I would have to go through with there and then. I stated that it does not say on the small print that you can only call once in which he then stated sky did not have to put that notice in the small print.

So just wondering if anyone else has called for the offer, then to be told they could not call back for the same offer. The offer is on until 22 june. I think it is a bit unfair that you have to take the offer there and then.

The reps will tell you anything to get a sale, particularly an HD one. They dont get comission for each individual sale, but they have to aim for a certain percentage of HD contracts. (Thats what I was told anyway!)

They tried to sell my mum HD and broadband (she has a very old TV, and does not even own a computer!!) but they insisted it was cheaper than just the sky+ package she actually wanted!

Every time we read the terms and conditions we had on the leaflet/email etc, they just said 'well that only applies if you have HD' The small print did not confirm this, but they were sticking to it.

They are very selective with their information, they dont 'provide' sky+ boxes any more, that bit is true, but they do still do sky+ contracts (reluctantly) They just use a sky+ HD box, but do not enable the HD channels on the viewing card.

Thanks for the replies. I do not have a HD tv either and mine is pretty old. I will also check ebay, thanks for the tips.

Im told that they should check if you have an HD ready TV before trying to sell a HD contract, but they dont.

My friend a few weeks back was also told they dont do sky+ any more, and sold her an HD package, I told her I knew they did, but she didnt want to complain, and thats just why they carry on getting away with it!
