Which broadband for a country bumpkin?

I need to get a new broadband (now that E7 have gone). I can't get talk talk. Can anybody recommend an alternative? We spend a lot of time surfing and only tend to download emails so don't know whether capped or uncapped is best?

My advice would be to go to https://www.samknows.com to find out whether anyone has unbundled your exchange. If so start with them as they should be cheapest.

Hope this helps to make a start.

have a look at the primus thread .I've been with them since june with no probs
  • If all you do is download emails and surf, then capped might be best. Its very difficult to find uncapped services cheaply out there. There are several who seem to be doing a good job from what I have read.

There's namesco who are currently doing a 12 months free 512Kb, 2GB capped service.

If that doesn't suit you, then there's UKfsn I think the Home Max 3 shud be good enough.

And there's Aquiss who also have the same package albeit for a higher price.

The latter two are both quite reliable and have very quick support response times, including forums on which many of their reps hang out. Am myself planning on going onto with one of them as my current provider is just not as good as when I joined up.

I at last decided to join the 21st century & change over from dial up to broad band, like OP unable to get talk talk although I've heard mixed reviews on the service so would we warey about an 18 month contract.

Namesco looks very good for £60 a year + £1 per gig over the 2 gig allowance, although the only thing I would say is read the small print about £50 cancellation if before a year.

I decided to give AOL a ring as I've been with them for 5 years to see if they could offer me a good deal, at first they only offered me the online deal, but I pushed it & I got their siver package for £9.99

Talk Talk have definately opened up a can of worms & as so I would phone a few quoting both TT & Namesco deals & see what they offer, as I think we as the consumer are at an advantage at the moment & likely to get a very good deal, if we go about it right.
  • I can't see a free deal with Namesco. Has the offer ended?

Sorry, Mick ... The Namesco deal ended on 1st Sept.
