    See this website http://www.ukpayments.org.uk/faster_payments_service/how_does_the_faster_payment_service_work/

Ask Halifax for their copy of the confirmation that Barclays have credited the account. After that it's up to the recipient to chase. I'm beginning to wonder if the recipient is pulling a fast one.

It's possible the payment reverted to BACS in which case the payment should be there but maybe not visible to the recipient until tomorrow.

Even then a bit odd - it should be visible today really as Monday was the third day.

Theres a very simple solution to this.

Get the recipient to show you thier online banking statement or a mini statement print out......

The money will then suddenly appear....
    For everthing else there's mastercard.
    For clampers there's Barclaycard.

Ring Halifax and say the money is not in the recipients account and could they put a trace on it.

If the recipient is lying then Halifax will come up with the proof to say the money did reach them. If not then Halifax will provide proof that the recipients bank will have to take note off and work out where the money has gone.

It can't have reverted to BACS if you have a confirmatory FP Email from Halifax. The receiving Bank confirm receipt of the payment ...... Halifax then translate that into an Email to the address on file. Therefore it reached the receiving Bank satisfactorily.

If the Sort Code / Account number are as provided by the other party ....... then over to them to resolve with their Bank.
If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !

I transferred £1,100 form one of my accounts to another, because it was over £1,000 it took a few days to show up in my (receiving) account.

Is there a limit with the recipient's bank?

Is there a limit with the recipient's bank?

No. Limits are set by the sending bank, therefore as long as the recipient's bank can receive Faster Payments, period, then there should be no issue.

Halifax have a £2500 limit on FPS, so this will not be the cause of the OP's issues. Also, as Mikeyorks has correctly indicated, the FPS confirmation e-mail makes it very unlikely the payment has reverted to BACS. FPS works real time, therefore the timescale indicated by Halifax (i.e. up to 2 hours) has been generated after confirmation from Barclays (in real time) the funds have been received.

See below for details on sending limits:-

Anything I post is my opinion, so from time to time I may be wrong. I try to provide answers based in fact, however I don't know everything, so (like all posters on MSE), take what I say with a pinch of salt.

Its fairly obvious isnt it, as the OP doesnt trust the recipient that she/he is pulling a fast one!!

As this is an online transfer (faster payment), the only "proof" that I have at the moment is the confirmation email sent me by my bank, which I have already forwarded to my recipient.

I hope my bank should issue me a proper payment confirmation document upon request.

Since you are able to prove you have sent the money, the burden of proof now lies with the recipent to get confirmation from his bank that a credit from you was not made.

I suggest you state that he needs to get his bank to prove to you they didn't receive it otherwise you must assume he is acting fraudulently and will take the relevant legal action.
