person wants to sell me iphone 3g,they say it came from usa so is locked to the network there AT or something, can't be unlocked as is too new software,so
said as it can't be unlocked yet i can only use this as an ipod,
is this correct,or a scam of some sort
there are 2 ways to unlock an iphone
my previous iphone 3g was locked to o2 but i jailbroke it and unlocked it for use on any network,i could put any sim in and away you go.
with my 3gs i had official o2 unlock i can use any sim but i need to connect to itunes whenever i put different sim in.
from what you describe i would suspect the phone has been reported missing/stolen so is locked out by network and not just tied to the american at&t network,so sounds like a scam to me0
