Seller feedback

I just bought an item from an eBay shop and really happy, its really is a lovely piece of furniture for my daughter, I left brilliant feedback as the seller was first rate, after a few days I notice that the seller has left none, checked his profile and he has never left feedback for anyone, over 650 sales in a year and no feedback.

People complain about buyers not leaving feedback, but sellers fail as well, really don't understand why some traders are like that, surely feedback is a two way street on eBay?

Feedback is optional. But sellers' feedback is meaningless - all buyers are 100% as it is only possible to leave positives.

Did you pay for a piece of furniture or for some Feedback? As Martin said FB for buyers is pretty meaningless. You have a nice piece of furniture what more do you want?

Some sellers if they leave feedback do it in batches I just had a seller leave me Feedback on my buying account 5 weeks after the sale. But one more FB on my buying account makes no difference. It doesn't make buying any easier I can buy things with 0 FB or 1000.

Its an observation , I was a trader on eBay and always left feedback for buyers, its important to receive feedback because if you were buying items and nobody left anything saying you are trustworthy buyer etc, it would make me think, can I trust the next person bidding on my items.

And Martin is right to extent, but then he is wrong to an extent as well , what more do I want? well something that I had a successful trade with him, I took the trouble to ensure that he as a seller had an extra feedback to show that he is a good trader!

Anyway I am happy with what I had from him as the item is lovely as my missus says ;)

You WERE right, but unfortunately now sellers can only leave positive. So not it's not a true reflection. However, as a seller, I set up my preferences to leave feedback automatically upon receipt.

But it doesn't stop you bidding. If you snipe as a lot of buyers do the seller won't even see your FB untill after you have won and paid for the item so if they thing your trustworthy or not makes little difference.

There are a lot of seller who now don't leave any FB for buyers in a childish protest to the fact that they can only leave a positive

As a seller I get less problems from those with little or no feedback compared to those with a substantial amount.

If you were that bothered about feedback and it's that important to you, why didn't you check the seller's trend for leaving feedback before buying?
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Well I use snipe for all auctions, but this was a BIN item that accepted offers, I put low offer they accepted me am happy ;)

Anyway thanks for the reply , and I am not whining here honestly, I stopped trading when eBay increased the cost of having a shop to a stupid amount of money , and haven't really bothered with eBay and only purchase when needed

Why would I check what feedback he leaves for others? I only check what feedback is left for him, as it gives me an idea of kind of trader he is , and as I said its observation that I have made on this trader. And for me feedback should be about successful trades, if nobody left him any feedback at all, I don't think he'd making as many sales as he does.

I don't bother to leave fb for my buyers seems when i do leave them in batches you get some smart a!s trying it on 'oh i didn't get this item' etc.
Happened a few times now, some may be genuine others i wonder if they don't know about the not allowed to leave negs thing and on reciept of pos fb they think ah i'll try it on now.

You're right that my post was a bit simplistic. A lot of sellers (myself included) now post feedback on receipt of payment. This possibly encourages buyers to post positive feedback.

The golden rule is to never solicit feedback. Asking a buyer can provoke the sort of feedback you definitely don't want.
