Turkey - Which currency? Cash before travel or on arrival?

Hi, could anyone help with this dilema.
I am travelling with my family to Fethiye in August and not sure which currency or best ways to withdraw my holiday money.
Would I be best to travel with small amount of sterling and withdrawal from ATM at Dalaman Airport ( I have a Nationwide Debit Card and a Abbey (Santander) Debit Card (Zero Current Account)?
Or to obtain Turkish Lira, Sterling or Euros before travel?
Staying atMajesty Club Tuana Park which is sited in a fairly remote location and is about 10 miles from the main town of Fethiye so not so easy to access ATM's. It is an all inclusive resort so hoping not large amounts of money required (I hope).
Any help gratefully recieved.

There are several ATMs at Dalaman Airport. You pass some on the way to the transfer bus. Best to use one of these as you have the right debit cards.

The cash machines in tourist areas will give you the choice of euros or lira.

Hi Mimihoo, Myself, my husband and daughter are going to the same hotel with friends on 31st July! What dates are you going?

We have been to Turkey (not this area) many times and the exchange rate is usually better there. I normally take about £50 of Lira with us, try to take smaller notes for tips etc. and then the rest in sterling.

You can change up in lots of Bureau's and last year when we could get 2.2 here I got 2.4 there.

Also in the markets they quite often say '3 for £10, 15 euros or 25 lira' so better with sterling there.

If you want anymore info let me know. Whilst haven't been to this area have been to Kusadsai area and Bodrum/Gumbet area (easy to guess we love Turkey!) and my friends say 'don't go to Turkey without talking to Alli first'

Might see you there! . .

Hi Alli, your advice is helpful thankyou. We are not going until the 31st August so I will look forward to your feedback of the resort. The reviews on trip adviser seem positive, so fingers crossed.

My only concern is that we are only in resort for a week and was planning a major chill out in resort as the Majesty Club Tuana Park as it is fairly remote it is not so easy to access ATM's or the Bureau's.

I think it may be wise to take some Turkish Lira and sterling as you suggest, hope there is a ATM at the airport and if not will have to take a trip into Fethiye.

    Happy Holidays
    Mimihoo :)

If you are not planning going far you may not need much money - although I couldn't go to Turkey without visiting the shops!

Have you looked on any other review sites? I googled and there are some great photos on Holidaycheck.

Have a great time when you go - will let you know what it's like!
