Sold item on ebay - buyer requests its sent to different address

Hi
Just sold item on ebay through paypal & normally just send to address on paypal page. Buyer has emailed and asked for it to be posted to another address (as she has moved).
Was thinking that to qualify for seller protection I would be require to post to paypal registered address. Am I correct ?
Thanks in advance for any advice

Yes you must send to the address in paypal, because if they claim it did not arrive you have to show proof that you sent it to that specific address. Its possible that this person could have hijacked another persons account and is ordering goods from it.

How much is the item worth and are you sending it tracked? If it's below £41 you don't need tracking as you can claim from RM if it doesn't arrive, and without the tracking you won't have seller protection wherever you send it.

If it's over £41 then you can refund the payment and get them to add the new address on paypal and pay again, you'll then be able to send safely to their new address.

I have recently bought many items from ebay for my daughter who is expecting a baby. We live a long way from her and we have always ask the buyer to post directly to her. Our feedback on ebay is 100% and we have been fortunate enough to have people follow our postal requests.

I would suggest that you use buyers rating to decide whether you send the item to the address requested, you do have the buyers email as proof that they asked you to post to this new address if there was any dispute.

This would be totally useless in any claim so no protection at all if you don't send to the PP address even if the email is from the Queen you will still lose any case for non receipt if you don't send to the PP address.

if you want Paypal seller protection the best thing is to refund their payment and get them to add a gift address in Paypal. This will then e there when they repay.

If your not sending tracked and don't want seller protection its just a judgement call. Low value items I would not nrmally have any problem doing this to. Though I recently had one requested to a PO box which I refused as my Scam Radar was ringing.

It depends on how much the item is worth. If you need seller protection as the item is over £41, refund the seller and ask them to pay again with a gift address. If you don't then send the item with Certificate of Posting, which should cover you in the event of non delivery.

If she has moved, why has she not changed her address in Paypal?

Thank you all so much for your help.
I sent email politely asking her to change address and I would post item as soon as it was done. I explained about seller protection and why I was asking for the address change.
She replied she was not happy as it felt like I was trying to blackmail her and was I not going to send the item that she needed. She didnt think she could do the change due to computer problems.
My feedback is 100% on over 200 transactions.
I emailed back and said I could issue immediate refund if required and not to worry as I am genuine. I said let me know in morning and I would do refund straight away if thats what she wants.
I would prefer to do a refund as I feel sick at the suggestion that Its like blackmail .
I remember now why I dont like selling on ebay
Thanks again for your helpful replies
