Unwanted telephone calls driving me mad - not sales so TPS does not help...

Hi all!

I used work for Ipsos Mori and have a few things to say:

Guys I dont think any of the ideas above are great - A whistle by the phone??? AND going beserk? Seriously people are only doing their jobs!!! Try and appreciate how soul destroying it can be without listening to people shouting!


You do realise that you can be asked to be put on a Do Not Re-contact database?? Legally they have to put you on it so you wont be contacted again if you say 'Can you put me on your do not recontact database'. Asking to be taken off a list doesnt work as they dont use a database or directory!

And anyway.....A lot of Mori surveys are government commissioned so maybe listen to what they are saying and you might find it interesting?? They're never that long!

Here's a thought, have you ever been on the receiving end of these NUISANCE calls?

Sorry! I was only trying to be helpful and tell you how to stop it!

As for being a Traffic warden..I can only dream of that love and admiration!

Does the advice you originally suggested work for all companies?

UK based or not?

Any unsolicited callers to my number get told to F**k off.

And yes that is exactly what I say.

If I could find a way that would stop companies calling then I would be interested.

Yes it does but you have to make sure that you say those words or say 'I do not want to be called by (company name) again' If you aren't that specific they are not legally obliged to do it!

This should work as far as I am aware - although there is a difference in what I did and telemarketing! Telemarketers should have the same DNC system I think!

Caller ID and a good answerphone where you can bar calls.

I had listed a website on here earlier this morning but I've now removed the link because Bigcammy was on the ball as usual and pointed out that it was actually an american website....hopefully someone will be able to find a uk alternative site where we can all register.

I was being bombarded by calls for a while - not just sales/marketing but wrong numbers as mine was similar to a local hairdresser... I'm registered with TPS, but still get calls, especially from abroad. The only thing I could do was get an answering machine - usually I pick up before the end of the message because the sales/marketing people have rung off. All my friends know to hang on for a while - if I'm there, I'll pick up, if not, they leave a message.
