Would a shortwave mast stop my broadband connection

I'd love to have a chat with this BT 'Engineer'; a term often abused. It annoys the hell out of me that these people go around telling folk a load of bull when it's quite obvious they don't know their ar** from their elbow.
OK, rant over. I'd like to know the outcome though, if you have the time.

Theres two engineers at end of the road sitting around on their elbows0

It will be a ditribution fault between the termination box (metal cabinet usually on pavement wall) and the houses in your street. Maybe some digging to come. BT employ mostly technicians.ac's lovechild0

So, as a punter, how would I know if I was talking to a technician or an engineer? Or, more to the point, why are technicians allowed to advise BT customers on something they clearly have no idea about. This isn't an attack on techies or engineers, more of a 'what on earth is going on?' with BT rant. I must calm down.........0

Speaking as an engineer, a big problem with the engineering institutions is that there is no regulation on who can call themselves an engineer because it is such a prolific word in English, it's a verb, noun and adjective all rolled into one. In many other countries they actually have laws against falsely calling yourself engineer but here it seems you can apply it to any job description. There have been lots of debates about changing the word itself (eg technologist) but it's all a bit impractical."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Ok, I see what you mean now.

Oh, I think they know where their ar*e is, as most of them talk out of it and chat a right load of old sh*t.0 -
update......
Just had a call from the BT specialist sound engineer (apparently works for a speciailist faults dept), he has said that one of the neighbours had some equipment that was "leeching" into the broadband cables and that was stopping the signal to half of the street, apparently BT have now cut off this guys BT service and this has restored broadband connection to the street
I do not know if I have been told a load of old balls but my broadband connection (and those of my neighbours) wasnt working and it now is so I am pretty happy, a little upset that it took an email to BT CEO to get this done but hey ho
BT are supposed to be ringing me tomorrow to give me a further update on the problems
Thanks for all your replies guys

Happy days. I for one would like to know what was 'leaching' into the broadband in your street, chances are it's not entirely legal...........0
