Is it a good idea to ask for feedback ?

In this case ..................NO - they have told me the items will be posted in 3 to 4 days time ( I have paid instantly and it does not say that they will be posted " at our leisure " in the listing)

I have purchased 3 items from them and know that these can be posted together for one third of what they have charged and yet have not been offered a discount

(should I contact them about postal prices actual versus charged ? - no, as this would appparently be classed as extortion / blackmail)

so I will give them their feedback - as that is what they have asked for ! ;)

I dont think 3-4 days is too bad, not everyone can get to the post office every day and if you bought over the weekend then it's to be expected. You could mark them down on 'dispatch time' if it takes too long.
Why did you not ask for a discount on postage at the time? This is not classed as extortion/blackmail, just good sense. You must have known what the postal charges were before you bid.
And I would not leave feedback until you have received the items!

If I was buying something and had to wait 3-4 days for it to be posted, I wouldn't be very impressed unless it had said so in the listing. (I am assuking the op means working days, not over the weekend, which is different)

I also don't think buyers should have to ask for combined postage if they are buying everything at the same time - I always give combined postage, and have sent a refund if the buyer pays individually before I can send an invoice. If the seller sent one invoice for the lot without any postage discount, and paid significantly less then this would get noted in the feedback and stars.

But then saying all of that, I would probably have asked when I got the invoice from them for a discount.

    Definitely not!
I bought a couple of items from a seller last week, no discount (they were inclusive postage though) and they turned up seperately because they'd already been packed up.

Not everyone gives discounts, not everyone knows they can or should actually, and it's better to ask first than mark down later.

I'd find 3-4 days a bit much but not excessive.
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine

Why should they offer you a discount? If its not stated in their listing that they will and you haven't asked they do not have to offer you one. You bought knowing a discount was not agreed so you have nothing to complain about

I always offer a discount if I get there in time, and of course if asked. But often I merrily pack and post without realising a buyer has bought more than one thing. I seem to go onto a sort of automatic pilot mode when packing. I only realise, if at all, when doing the paperwork afterwards. So I'd be quite upset if someone gave me harsh stars or feedback for that.

yes - but you could email and give a partial refund thru Papal -

incidentally , the seller has emailed me 3 times now asking for feedback ( I had allready emailed them to say that they arrived ok and am happy with the transaction ) - so its a case of me being pedantic now .....3 times :rotfl: !!

I have never asked for feedback, and tend to ignore message from anyone asking for it as I think it is rude to ask! :p

As a seller I wait until they post feedback before leaving mine - and if they haven't done after 1 month then my feedback will say so.

As a buyer I leave feedback when I receive the item and am sure it is what I ordered.
  • actually the first email that they asked for feedback, I had to remind them that they hadn`t even left any for me yet !!

    .

Why bother, feedback is optional so just don't leave it if you stress about it that much. If you routinely leave silly feedback for sellers because they don't do what you want them to do then you will find that sellers may well start blocking you as being a bit of a flakey buyer.

Buy on ebay because you want the item, sell because you want the money. If lots of nice positive comments are what you want then you can post interesting stuff in the Arms' on here and get lots of thanks.

You can get suspended for that- negative comments on positive feedback for buyers.
