  • I also sent details of the scam/ company to Business link.Gov.uk so they can warn their clients of this as they train the new business people of the future. Has anyone else done a similar thing? They said I should write to Trading Standards too.

Hi - oddly, I've also been conned out of £140 from these people who told me they were Google. I'm doing all of the above but in addition I've reported them to Google (sorry if anyone else has and I missed the post). I went onto the Google forum for help and posted it as a question saying I needed to contact them to report the fraud. Got an email back saying it had gone to Google so it may be worth everyone doing the same to see if Google will wade in. I posted a link to this thread too.
I would be interested in teaming up with anyone to take these people to court.

    cheers,

    JoD
  • Hi all

Just to let you know I had a call from Oldham Trading Standards today and they are taking action against them. :-)

I too was conned out of £300 by them. They made out they were google (hmm a pattern has formed here hasn't it!), took money they weren't authorised to, and were downright rude!

Fingers crossed we all get a refund and they get put out of business.
  • Oh that is cheering news, well done.

The latest news here is awesome! I wonder if we can get the funds back that they swindled with unethical and false threats of court for back charges for a supposed account balance that never existed! :/

Thanks for the uplifting news. I will look into reporting to google through the help forum as well. What I did earlier was to submit the url of worldwide along with all the forums reporting their scam with a message to google that this company was scamming people using their name. JoD22 seems to have a better and more direct means.. thanks!

I have just been on the tradingstandards web site there is a link on there to "tip them off about rip offs" ( sorry as a new user that is the best i can do as a link) and reported their details on the scam link. Easy to do guys, get on there now and get these people off their phones.

    Hi Everyone
I suggest newcomers to this site take some time to read through all of the threads to get a fuller picture of what has been taking place. It seems to me that Trading Standards are pretty lame ... as are Manchester Police who should be following this up as a fraud investigation. It also seems that Google have done little about it. This is all bad news and I am surprised considering all of the bad publicity (including being featured on BBC Radio 4's 'You and Yours' programme a few months back that they have not been arrested and prosecuted for fraud. But such is the looseness about law enforcement in this land. If we fail to pay our Council tax we will be prosecuted so why are these fraudsters not brought to justice? The next step might be to contact Rogue Traders on the Watchdog programme although I believe these only deal with non-business complaints. It might be worth trying.

I have unfortunately fallen foul of this awful awful people. It has cost me hundreds of pounds and am being threatened with court - do not give them money, do not believe them, if you have taken out a one month trial with them - send them a recorded delivery letter stating that you wish your contract to end completely in full and final settlement of the account on the date that they first said it would finish - otherwise they will carry on billing you and adding costs for their time and expenses and court costs.

PLEASE PLEASE LISTEN TO ME - DO NOT LET THESE PEOPLE TAKE YOUR MONEY

Even if you cancel they will carry on making charges against you and then they will take you to court that is what is happening to me - send them a recorded letter stating that you wish your account to end - follow their instructions in the welcome pack to end your account to the letter - I didn't and it's costing me dearly.

I also did this, cancelled my card, and thought that was the end of the matter. You need to read the small print on the online agreement, AND if I were you I would send them a recorded delivery letter stating that "you want to cancel your account with them with immediate effect" before your initial 30 days runs out, after that you need to give them 30 days notice and they threaten to take you to court - trust me that's what happened to me :(

Thanks for all the posts - so I'm not the only one. Signed up for some 'advertising' for my design company. Thought I'd been careful enough, and could tell a cowboy, but sadly no. Feels bad to be scammed. Signed up in May after sales call, cancelled before the 'free' period was up by e-mail, but then they didn't acknowledge reply, then didn't acknowledge 2 letters, until we sent one signed for. Then they did acknowledge reciept BUT still seem to be taking money for a service I stopped after 2 weeks. Last payment went out in August. Will probably have to cancel card, definitely reporting as fraud and will approach the Credit Card Company to see if they can pursue. Would be interested in any joint action to stop them trapping any-one else.
