'spoons' represent your energy reserves when you have a chronic illness, nannyboo1.
Rather than saying 'OK, I have the energy to do the shopping, but if I have to wait for the bus and carry the shopping all the way from the bus stop, I'm going to be incapable of doing anything much for the next three days', you say 'That would cost too many spoons' and book the Ocado delivery instead, saving your spoons for something useful, like meeting a friend or - shock, horror - having relations with your significant other
It also puts you a step back from 'I can't do it because I feel like cpra' which is better psychologically, sometimes.
Another example is that I have typed all this, whilst Piggers has just entered a link! Far more efficient spoon use!
:rotfl: I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll

grateful - was it you thinking of the promotion? I'd personally stay well away if you have young children, unless you are mad keen to do it. I agree with greenbee, if you're asked, tell them the timing's not right.
I'm sure you both, and greenbee are right.Last time one of these came up I was asked, but at the time, was pregnant so wouldn't have gone for it.If you don't want middle management then don't bother, remember they tend to want at least a job and a half if not two jobs for the salary of one.....plus there appears to be an unwritten rule that 'working hours' become very extended.
Don't feel pressured and remember as things are going for us 'professional's' (ha) our salaries will be stretched beyond belief as National Insurance is due to go up as is tax and salaries in the public sector will be frozen or will see very little gain at all in the ensuing years....;)
eta jojo I'n jealous you can have ocado. They don't deliver here.
I can tell you about the half-life of spoons!!
confess to using the cold handwash wm cycle for that!!Handwashing done. Just grabbing a couple of clean towels to help dry it out before bunging it on the line to dry. Yet another job that's been hanging over me for WEEKS, with the basked of handwashing getting in the way the whole time. Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -

Me too!!
Did coffees after church - why does my turn always fall on the busiest weekend?? Speed shop in S'bugs, lunch, then planning all afternoon. I've just spent ages playing with powerpoint to make something fun for my Year 7's on asking directions. Let's hope they like it....
The sun's shining outside now, and I have still work to do. I think Year 8 will be continuing with the World Cup - revising colours and clothing, by designing football kit - or WAG's outfits, as they please.
Ooh, I forgot the big news of the day - now I have my washing line spike concreted in, I can put washing on the line!!:j I found my ancient wooden pegs, and think I should have some new ones - so valli, what should I buy?;)It is never too late to become what you were always intended to be0 -
Hello all, well I've been a pretty useless flyer this week, oh well there is always next week.
Sat more worried about my friend at the mo, she's split up with her partner in Surrey but has stayed there to finish her course now they're at logger heads again and it's going terribly wrong but she's stubborn and even though he keeps trying to hit her, his Mam has too she's staying. I wish she'd just come home. We've offered to go get her stuff, she's back up next weekend for definate so bringing a load then. Trying to find other places to store her stuff, the downside is most of her 'friends' down there are his friends. Oh why are some people so crazy, I know she's spent £500 doing her course but !!!!!! ..... ARGH WOMEN lol that makes a changed from ARGH MEN!
Think I'll go clean the kitchen to take my mind off it, oh yes piggers I need to get laundry in, thanks for the reminder
(((hugs))) for you allOne day I might be more organised...........

Well the gardeners amongst you will be proud of me - I've just finished my shower, and ache all over after spending what must have been about 4 hours weeding and creating a flower bed in my garden - it hadn't been done since last year because that was the last time I did it and Moon didn't keep it up, so the grass had grown right over the bed. I went to Argos and bought a half moon edger specially! I've only managed to get half way along the bed though as the soil here is basically clay, and full of stones, so getting the grass and weeds (that small convulvulous type stuff) out, has taken ages!
Am off to dinner at my M&D's tonight so we can give my dad his father's day card etc. I just want to curl up in pjs now, and I'm wondering whether I'll be able to move tomorrow! Have the horrible Year 6 class I had last week, so hopefully after the telling off they had last week, they'll be a bit nicer to me.
Fingers crossed that the gardening will help with the fat trimming too, as I couldn't go for my walk yesterday because the police had found a body! Must see if I can find out more on the local news whilst I think of it. We've had a few Polish people found in our canal recently, so I'm wondering if there is something going on there. This area is usually so quiet and relatively crime free.
Well I've got to go an dry my hair now and work out what to wear.
Hugs to all who need or want them. LadyL if I don't get online or "speak" to you before, have a fantastic time at Glastonbury!

Evening all
Had a good day here. After church we took some flowers and cards (laminated and weighed down with stones!) to DH, there were loads of people there visiting dads.
Took a card and pressie to my Dad this afternoon and ended up staying for dinner (well I nipped back to pick up some bacon and eggs to add to what Mum already had).
Kids now clean and ready for bed.Official Mascot and Chief Cheerleader for the 'Mortgage Free in Three' Gang

Chatted to my father, it seems he had a fall in the shower, and the shower door got stuck, one of my brother's boys (20) eventually managed to rip the door off, just as the fire crew arrived, I asked Step mother why no one took a hammer to the shower door, to which I got told, it would have got damaged??!!~~~on Tuesday of this week a new bigger shower with double doors that open outwards is being fitted.Breast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles
