hollyh - if it is any consolation DS2 (nearly 6) was sent away from nice sunday lunch for burping tunes. He was so annoyed that he carved his name and a picture of a broken heart in the back of my leather sofa with a junior hacksaw. He is not allowed within 5 metres of me or I may resort to chopping his ears off with said junior hacksaw.

oh aren't they precious! did he admit it or try to pass it off as someone elses's handiwork?

ETA ooo YUK piggers...I think I vaguely remember you posting about a pongy bathroom (well soemone posted about a pong they attributed to cats)

  • Thats funny hex, DD2 did fake snoring all through the vicar's sermon last week.

Well I have done at least 8 hours' marking today, but very MSE. DH has been a star with the housework, did the dining room and hall today, all the meals and put all the washing away.

I have to do 4 hours a day for the next week to meet my target.

    Morning all.

Some twonker rang the house phone at 1.30 this morning and scared the carp out of me:eek:. OH on his 40th birthday bash in Ibiza at the moment so I am the only grown up at home. I am not used to being in a night on my own :o.
Normally, when my OH is at home, we take the house phone off the hook at night. Because his name and his business name begin with A, he is often at the top of people's mobile phone lists.
I have lost count of the number of times we have had bizarre phone calls from people who have accidently rung our number when the have leant on their phones (quite often p8ssed up staggering into taxis at some ungodly hour)
He has one mate who starts work at 5am. Every morning for a week as he was driving to work with his phone in his pocket, he would accidently ring us and we would hear him singing along to the radio :rotfl:.
I have a "dummy" entry in my mobile address book, consisting of a line of AAAAAA to prevent this from happening.

Apologies if I've missed off anything of import - speed-reading Fred as internet connection still in the hands of Loki.:(:D

Visited Lindisfarne today, and decluttered waaaay too many spoons. Was worth it, though; have come back with2 bottles of mead for us and some Alnwick IPA for the pal who's watching the bungalow for us.

Digging finished. Handwashing on line. Spare room duvet bagged up to go to the cleaners when I can be bothered to take all the other stuff that needs to go (winter coats, probably a suit...). Spare blankets bagged up and stored in the bottom of the spare room wardrobe

The house is slowly starting to feel civilised again :j

  • Ewwww Piggers! Aren't children/teenagers/animals vile at times? :)

I'm looking at my huge living room rug and thinking 'it used to be red, you know'. However, the culprits are splodged out over it, snoring. One of them has his furry carcasse draped over the vacuum cleaner hose, too. Sometimes I'm just too soft.

Not looking forward to tomorrow, really. Obviously, I want DD2 to go on her school trip - she had no choice in the matter, really, as I decided she WAS going.

But I still can't help thinking that I could go the whole week without speaking to a soul, other than the blokes I pay to teach me to drive and to play bass.

Oh well [shakes self], better get on with the washing again.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

Nanny glad to help - well done to you.
Hollymassive (((hugs))) being childless as you know - I would probably suggest removing all toys buts that just me being nasty!!! the 4yo I can understand him saying things like that - they really dont know any better at that age IMHO and maybe he heard his brother saying something similar in one of his rages. As for DS1 I think you did the right thing but remember he has to learn his lesson and dont give in to him too quickly - sorry i shouldnt be telling you how to look after your kids thats not on - my apologies - can OH not take him aside and speak to him rather than let you have to deal with the fall out each time?
hex more massive(((hugs)))) here too- I would have been livid too - what job does he hate most - put him on that for the next month! can the 'carving' be 'repaired' or covered? def wine o'clock in your house.

Can I be cheeky and ask I keep reading about 'decluttering of spoons' and whilst I can imagine you all throwing spoons out I am presuming LW isn't doing that. Can anyone enlighten me please?
