Just checked in again...this is great info..As for doing frozen chips..the only reason i mentioned them was because in previous pubs i have worked, children turn thier noses up at real chips!! Well real is all we are doing now, cooked in duck fat!
We are going to be opening next Thu the 12th.and its in a tiny hamlet called Welby,4 miles out of Grantham. We have been slowly moving in upstairs, and now its getting really close..im excited!
To quote a comment earleir from lucylucky, yes its cooking not catering!.I have learnt a few things in last few days..if you read on a menu that food is "home cooked" then it is factory made, bought in and microwaved. You can say this because you are warming it up/cooking it on home ground. To say "homemade" is totally different.Made at home by our own chef, and cooked at home.Dont be fooled by home cooked signs again.

Shame, being veggie that cuts me out of a visit. Never mind.

The best of luck with this, I live south notts just off A46 and melton/grantham isnt too far from me (I think your near melton is that right?) so might pop in one day when you are up and running (i promise to be good....no haggling either).

I've haven't read through the entire thread but, just for my two'penneth worth, please do a variety of vegetarian dishes; I'm not a veggie but my DIL is and it's often very difficult to find a good place to eat that offers a variety of good dishes for her.

we are in now...we would have done veggie chips also, easy to do,but at the mo they are all sunflower oil, and lincoln potatoes are fab for chips..we are doing quite well, despite previous owner taking more stuff than he said he was!! incuding tables..!!

Veggies are my side of things, i am not one but i like a lot of veggie stuff,we are getting a pie made for us,which is quite nice, butternut squash, potato red onion cheese, and garlic, if anyone drops by,let me know you are a MSE and you will get a discount!!

Hey just to say, I always want Steak Pie when I go to a pub but I end up not going for it because so many pubs do Steak and Ale and I hate the Ale taste! And I'm not the only one, I know a few people that feel the same way. One of my favourite places does Steak and Ale Pie and Steak Pudding so I always get to have my meaty gravy pastry fix without the cheap ale taste!

Also PLEASE, do a Rocky Road Ice Cream Sundae!

I'm diabetic, and most restaurants don't offer anything on the desert menu that's a healthier option. Something fruity, just without loads of sugar in it, like a good fruit salad or even strawberries and cream (or similar) would be lovely. Not so much in the winter when a hearty meal can fill you up anyway, but in the summer when you have a lighter meal and would like dessert (and there's so much fruit available to choose from anyway).

Also dieters would appreciate it too.
A waist is a terrible thing to mind.
