Vodafone has warned that the regulator's plans to slash the cost of calling mobile phones could leave pensioners, low-income families and other vulnerable groups facing a much bigger bill.

"We see these proposals as an unnecessary intervention which taxes low-income families, and they should be reconsidered," he said.

What a load of tosh. It's removing a Vodafone tax from non low-income families and individuals. What gives Vodafone the right to insist that some people subsidise the cost of the mobile phone service for others? That sort of decision belongs with governments.

It's the poxy goverment meddling (or rather the EU) thats causing these changes. If the Eu stopped forcing minimum pricing in then other people would not suffer.

We no longer have 12 month contracts, Data is going up in price and possibly this. All so people can save a few pence on holiday. Business man put the charges on expenses so don't see them, people on holiday need to learn to turn mobiles off, just because they can phone home and chatter for hours doesn't mean they should. By all means say you got somewhere, check the dogs OK, and the plants are watered, but then turn it off your on holiday for gawds sake...

I seem to recall from my o level economics that the competition and free market conditions should be forcing pricing down, not EU commisoners determined to make their name.

Does anyone expect o2 and 3 would actually reduce prices anyway as a result of this?

Corporations are greedy - shareholders, society and staff should share in profits, thats a win win.

Voda are greedy sods. I does not cost to have a sim sitting in a mobile waiting to be used.

Vodafone subsidise sim cards not users, how can you subsidise low users when every use is profit ? Voda wants to make MORE money out of low users and is using Ofcom for its reason LOL, Voda get a grip on yourself !

Honestly the SPIN governments and corporations make up, it almost amounts to fraud.
