I have phoned them and they are going to do an investigation, which I was told will take 7 - 10 days. I said my bill will be due within that period and that I couldn't pay so they have suspended it and told me to cancel my direct debit until they contact me with the results of the investigation.

If it comes back that I am at fault and I have to pay I will definately do the above, fingers crossed it will be all worked out though. Thanks to everyone for the advice :)

I think you're confusing 'I can't afford to pay this bill' with 'I don't want to pay this bill', not sure how much a cruise to Egypt is these days, pretty sure it ain't cheap though
