BTW, it's not the whiteness that would bother me, but the 'simplicity' of the suite. I would prefer white to, say, pink or avocado any day! Perhaps I misunderstood, but were the suggestions that the OP should buy a simple pedestal basin, WC and shower/bath? As in, B&Q £399 altogether? On a 400k house that is laughable!
  • I don't think you can win them all. Personally I'm a bath person and when I look at houses with en suites with only a shower I am looking to see if there is room to replace it with a bath. So a big freestanding bath would sell it for me! Definately a lovely white suite but as others have seaid make sure it doesn't look too cheap!

I prefer something like the second one, with limestone floor tiles, white wall tiles with a band of limestone.

What do you think or any other ideas?

Much prefer the bath in the first. Rather than a pedastal sink I would choose one with a built in cupboard underneath.

  • The first one is very "now" and my fear would be that it would look out of date in five or so years time.

Agreed. The fact that it comes from B&Q but is in a 400K house I think is pretty immaterial. You're actually better off buying a cheap suite and spend your money on the metalware (taps etc) and tiles - at the end of the day, one white bath looks very similar to another. Having a proper bath panel tiled in the same tiles as the room looks a lot better than the acrylic bath panel that usually comes with them.

I agree. But on the other hand, the second one looks almost Victorian. I think it needs to be somewhere in the middle. From a hygiene point of view, I woudn't be keen on having something with so many dirt-trapping ridges on it. I personally would go for something like this: http://www.plumbworld.co.uk/1608-16644 - clean, classic, fairly dateless and quite neutral in appearance; wouldn't wow anyone, but wouldn't offend them either. Not entirely sure about the limestone either - you might be limiting your potential market with that. If you're going for a border, it's best to either pick one that will go with anything (eg silver squares), or else one with at least two colours from either end of the spectrum (eg blue & orange) but making sure it's not too garish. That way, you're not limiting potential purchasers' choice of colours in the room.

word of warning - we just got a new bath very similar to the one in the second link and it's hellish and is getting taken out pronto. most baths with shaped bits have a much narrower area to lie in as the shaped bits take up the space. we didn't know this at the time and we thought it looked comfy and we could rest our arms. Ha! we're so squashed that we don't bath anymore and always shpwer. :( since been told by a plumber to always go for simple straight quality baths with an encapsulated base.

just get a straight plain white one! :D

It HAS to be a white suite, but whether you have to spend a fortune on making it look the part is another thing altogether. You can get a full suite for less than £200 - check out your local plumbers merchants.

Simple white tiles will make it look clean, and avoid a carpet in the bathroom. The accessorise...
