Cancelling while still in contract?

I have been with sky for just over 2 years. In december i got hd box and package, i'm sure i had to sign up for 12 months to get hd box free. I have hd, a movies pack, line rental and broadband, also a multiroom. I also have an entertainment pack. My bills are usually between £65 and £78 a month. My daughter was made redundant in January and it's only my wage coming in. I tried to persevere in the hope she would get a job but nothing as yet. I need to downgrade but will i be charged the full price for hd box. I think it was meant to be £249. I would get rid of it all but i fear i would be charged the full amount. Has anyone done this?

Write a letter to Sky explaining your situation and asking if they can help. You have nothing to lose except a stamp. (I wouldn't bother to phone - you'll probably just get an Indian call centre with a list of stock answers.)
  • You would have to pay off the reminder of your monthly fees till the end of your min term if you cancel within contract. Why not reduce your tv package? That would save a bit each month and also if you can lower your bb.I would phone them norm if you ask to lower your tv they have some form of offers(calls are free if you call from your sky landline)

Thanks for the replies. I went down to free broadband, but they soon sent a letter saying i was over my limit. I don't use it a lot, no downloads or anything. Reducing it is still going to be expensive due to multiroom, hd etc. I will phone tonight and see what they say. Thanks

I had to take the movies to get free hd box. I would get rid of it all if i could, just not sure if they'll charge me £250 for the hd box.
