Having read a few of these 'DVLA loses mail' threads, when I sold my car last week I scanned the V5 and sent it Special Delivery. It cost a fiver but I can prove it was sent and received.
Nightmare. Hope you get it sorted out."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0 -
I just wish everyone was like you lol
would save all this trouble

My son had his work pick up impounded by the Police because his Licence had been "revoked" - it hadn't, but good old DVLA said on their computer that it had.
The whole thing was a nightmare, he was in great danger of his truck being crushed because of the time it was taking to get it sorted out.
DVLA admitted it was a mistake fairly quickly, but the Police who took the word of the DVLA computer to impound the vehicle wouldn't release it until DVLA had actually issued him with a new plastic licence, even though they updated the computer within a couple of days. They then said it would take 3 weeks to issue a new licence.
We got his MP involved in the end and recovered the vehicle with his help with about 2 days to spare, AFTER he had been to the pound where the police said the vehicle was stored - and it wasn't.
I have to say the way the police behaved in this saga was absolutely pathetic - common sense absolutely ZERO !!
We are still trying to recover all the money he paid out to recover the vehicle.0 -

I worked at the DVLA for a short period about 12 years ago and I cant see where mail gets lost in the system if its sent to the correct postcode to begin with.
Lots of mail would turn up there at the wrong section due to incorrect postcodes etc, if it does then your hoping it gets redirected to the correct department and the place is huge with about 5-6000 ppl working there.0 -
if you got it from your cousin has he had a letter from the dvla saying thank you for letting us know your no longer the registered keeper? they normall send that out as they update their records0

No, I was pulled a copule of weeks after purchasing a new car from a dealer, on a Saturday afternoon, picked up by ANPR for 'no insurance'. When I rang my insurers, the only people open were the claims department, the admin section who I needed to speak to, weren't available till the Monday, and there was nothing I could do.
In my favour, was the fact the car was registered still to the dealer, so it was obvious that it was newly purchased, and the copper didn't mention impounding my car, just issued a producer and sent me on my way.All over the place, from the popular culture to the propaganda system, there is constant pressure to make people feel that they are helpless, that the only role they can have is to ratify decisions and to consume.0
