policeman driving using a phone!!

A few months ago, I got pulled for using a mobile phone while driving, while stopped at traffic lights. I don't even own a mobile phone. Obviously, the police officer thought that explanation was a little far-fetched (I'm obviously the only person left on the planet who doesn't need a mobile phone!). I had the radio on and was singing along to it, and was probably leaning on my hand. He wasn't up for searching the car.
At first, I thought it was fairly amusing, and then realised that I could be in a lot of trouble here. How could I ever prove that I wasn't on the phone?
Anyway, after some discussion and his refusal to look in my car, he "gave me the benefit of the doubt", but told me I wouldn't be so lucky in future!
I'd driven down the slip road towards the motorway before pulling over (thought I could at least inconvenience him a little – it's an 11-mile drive to the next junction!), but he just reversed back up it!
Frightening to think that I could have been made to part with a quarter of my driving licence and several hundred pounds if he'd given me a ticket and I'd lost at Court!0 -
There was a police van that we passed just pulling in to a side street. I looked to see him on his mobile!!!! I can't believe it. He may have pulled over but that was while speaking on the phone.
Really is one rule for one, one for another.
It really hate people who drive and use there phones there is absolutly no need for it and normally you can spot them a mile off driving dangerously but looks like the police are ok to do it.
Why do you think a single police man breaking the law means every police officer in the country gets a blanket exemption from that law? Police officers are just people like you and me and don't always act 100% within the law, just like most people.0 -

True, but many who wear the uniform think it gives them the right to be above the law !0 -

They represent the law so should obey it. I actually think that it should be a sackable offence. Also the police car that passed the policeman on the phone didn't seem to stop to give him points. Anyone else would have been.0 -

Those who enforce the law must be seen to obey it."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -
The police are not exempt from the phone rule, infact they can't use their radio whilst driving either now!
Have you seen Police Interceptors and Cops with Cameras? They do it all the time and that is on National TV!
Drivers using radios whilst their colleagues sit in the passenger seat doing nothing, why can't they use the radio/phone?
They also obstruct roads without reason when pulling someone and leave headlights on at night whilst stationary!
A couple of months ago one cut me up on a mini roundabout whilst I had the right of way!Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -

Why do people think police officers are different to the rest of us? Can you imagine how difficult it would be to go through life without contravening any law at all? I'm not defending the copper in the original post, but I find it strange that people expect police officers to be perfect citizens who never do anything wrong.0 -

I've seen that a couple of times and it bugs me that if it was anyone else they would be pulled over straight away.
I got in a taxi last night as well and the driver was updating his facebook on his phone whilst driving us home. He did put it down though when I asked him and told him to concentrate on getting us home safely.
Dave just had an annoying fare, lol
