hi all very first post....i have just come to realise that Talk Talk/aol have set up a direct debit from my bank account without my permission. i am not in a contract with them or use any other their products. they debited 49.58 from account without my knowledge...
after many phone calls and being past from pillar to post i finally spoke to someone who said the money would be refunded.
when asked why money was coming out of my account she could not answer.
i would like help on to what i should do now
many thanks

contact your bank .Ask the bank to put the money back into your account .
Under the DD guarantee the bank has to refund your money .
You may need to say the magic words" DD guarantee" before they act but the bank has to do it .After that the bank will chase Aol talk talk or whoever ."Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many"0 -
Old git is right. Under the DD guarantee scheme, the bank must refund wrongly debited funds within 24 hours, but you may have to be very insistent. You should also ask the bank for a full explanation of why this unauthorised debit happened. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.

How did they get your bank details? all sounds a bit odd...0

i used to have broadband with them but that has been cancelled for over 3 years now.0

I cancelled a direct debit with Talk Talk a few years ago, then after six months a mystery £7 odd was debited by them, then I received a statement, saying that they were billing me for statements and admin fees, even though there were no calls. It transpired that they had kept the bank details on record, and re-instated the direct debit, even though it had been cancelled.
Imagine if they do this with all the customers who leave them to go to a new supplier, they will make millions.0 -
how did they get your bank details then?Get some gorm.0

Any DD set up you should be sent a letter informing you of the details.0 -
Sounds a bit odd.
LinYou can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.0 -
I wonder if someone with a similar bank number has joined them and accidentally transposed numbers?Moving onto a better place...Ciao :wave:0
