"Offside outer Front constant velocity joint gaiter deteriorated"

Worth looking at the cv gaiter, if it's going to split it's worth getting done now.

Even more so if you're having the suspension arm done.

I suppose it depends on what they look like, they could be shreddded, or could last another five years. Worst that can happen is they'll start to clonk, but nothing should drop off.

Worst that can happen is that the grease comes out then it kills the CV joint. £50-£100 for a replacement CV joint vs £10 for a replacement boot - I know which I'd take.

Thanks guys for your advise. Going to print off the advisory notes and show to a mechanic and get him to check all the points out.

The thing with asking another garage to look at the advisory points is even if they also think they don't need doing, they'll still tell you that they do in hope of getting your business. :(

Which is why it's always wise to ask around for personal recommendation. Many small garage businesses understand the value of repeat custom and recommendation. If you find a garage you trust, you will look after them as much as they look after you. But I'd avoid the big chains.

With a fair part of the suspension system on it's way out, I'd say it'll get quite costly all at once. Also makes me wary of the owner's attitude towards maintainance.

Where's that other thread where the OP thought the car would get better on it's own? :p
