I use Estee Lauder DoubleWear (£24ish). Nothing else comes close, and believe me I've tried them all! I think that seeing as it's a base for the rest of your slap, You should find a good one. If you're lucky, a cheap one will do, but we all have different skins and different expectations.

I'm not tight by any means - but would never go back to liquid gungy foundation! I used to have major problems at times with my skin but using mineral make up solved that! And as you use so little, it costs far less! Has to be the 'proper' stuff and not the High street versions which seem to contain talc and all sorts which clog the pores!

So no, don't 'splurge' on foundation!

It depends on your skin. What's good for one person is not good for someone else.
Mineral foundation (LilyLilo) made my skin bright red and I also think it's far too 'thin' for my skin so I'm more than happy with liquid foundation.

I used to use L'Oreal True Match (one of the very few to have very pale shades) and I wore that for years but the last bottle I used didn't seem nearly as good so I'm trying to find a new one.

It's a case of trying out different foundations until you find your perfect one. That might be a £3 or it might be a £30 one.

That brand didn't suit me either - itched like mad! MMU is as thin as you wish it to be. I just couldn't go back now to anything vaguely liquid and pore clogging!

Which brand do you use? I'm very interested in mineral foundation, I've tried a couple of high street ones, which are better for my skin than normal foundation but I'm not sure about spending money on brands I don't know that are advertised via "infomercials". A recommendation would be very much appreciated :)

I use Lilylolo but as you can see other posters have tried it and not liked it. You can buy small samples from Lilylolo so not spending a small fortune on something you don;t like.
I've heard good thing about Elemental Beauty although noy used it personlly. Stuff like Sheer Cover is just horrendously expensive

I use one from M&S which is about £3.50 or so. It's the best one I've tried, it blends well and the colour seems to suit me better than any other I've tried (I'm quite fair, although they also do it in a darker shade as well).

It's definitely a case of finding the right shade and formulation for your own skin, rather than just going by price.

The most expensive I've ever used is La Prairie Skin Caviar Concealer Foundation....when I bought it, back in about 2004 it was £85. My lifestyle was totally different back then, I certainly can't afford it now.
Another expensive one I used was Creme de la Mer. That was £65. That was great at making pores and wrinkles almost invisible, but the lightest shade was too dark and at that price it has to be just right!

I've tried loads of different MMU but my skin doesn't like it, it makes it red and dry. I really wish it worked for me because I like the idea of keeping it natural.

I've finally settled for Revlon Colorstay, have to mix two shades to get the exact right one, but it lasts all day, gives good coverage and best of all at £11.99 in Boots, often on 3 for 2 (currently till 15 june they have this on offer) it's great.
