We are in Devon. And we have one child under 5 and two under 10, which bothers rescue. We have to content ourselves with dogsitting friends' totally untrained springer, we adore him, but it is criminal the way they bring him up.Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0

hmm - a lot of rescues would be worried about rehoing with an under 5... how old is the little one? I think someone on here said the dogs trust were flexible about this though - it may be worth talking to them, they have a centre in devon!0

Well she is nearly 3, and the labrador rescue were going to be flexible, until they realised the people at home would be my M + D looking after the smalls, and then they said my M + D would have to rescue the dog...
M + D are in their 60s and can't stand to put down another dog (theirs 18 and 16).Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -
Hi, thanks for the intro to this thread. Sadly my lovely springer died about a month ago in a similiar way. She would've adored the dressing gown thing as she loved being tucked up in her blankie, ESP after a muddy, wet walk.
My mum did vol work for lab rescue so feel free to pm me if I can help?

The only thing I could think of that may be negative is potential overheating issues, but if your not in a hot climate, then it's really not a problem.
Wish I could use one for my dog after playing puddles, but denying him being able to lie on a cold stone floor would be far worse than the benefits I gain of not needing to mop so often. Really nice idea though!0 -

(and I am sure you would never do that anyway!)
...however, if you encouraged the dog to see it as a nice place to be, and the dog gradually learns to associate the bag with getting some treats, praise, a fuss and a nice lie down.. then no, I cant see there would be any thing remotely cruel about that!
Our Mills would just assume I was playing some sort of game with him if I put him in one of these bags, I might actually get one for the car.
I ahve never seen them before so searched on the net, here a link with a pic of one:

I think it depends on the individual dog. I know my darling Penny would have loved one.:oIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0

I'd be a bit concerned about overheating aswell. It says that heat from the dogs body helps to move the dirt faster. Well id be worried that after a walk, when a dog should be cooling down and is probably panting a lot already, it must be like sitting in a sauna!!What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0

Don't you dare think about changing
Some people might not like the opinions you hold, or what you say but you always post trying to be helpful and are never rude or abusive or deliberately try to upset people, even when you disagree with them (that's not to say some people don't get upset but more about the interpretation they put on your opinion).
Personally I think you are the best kind of poster - you are honest but never cruel (imo) and you are consistently you - none of this nicey nicey if you want an answer but a nasty git if you are responding to other people's problems - you're always down the line
