FirstPlus PPI reclaim help

Hi all

Just looking for some advice i have started the ball rolling for claiming on the PPI sold to us on a FirstPlus loan, i have filled in the questonare and sent it to them, they have responded today saying the loan was setup by a broker Central Capital and they have passed the complaint to them to address.

Should i send a further copy of the questionare to Central Capital or remain dealing with Firstplus and send them the stage 2 letter.

Thanks all.

    Hi there

This is correct - whoever sold the policy are the ones responsible, I would therefore just contact them via phone or write a quick letter to make them aware that your complaint have been forwarded on to them, and ask for them to confirm they have received this.;)

    Good luck. X

    Hi James

Basically its Central Capital who are responsible, so it should be up to them now to investigate your complaint, but I would though make sure with them that FP have sent your complaint on to them if you can.;)

    Good luck.

I have just checked on "Companies House" for company search to make sure the company are still active, if these are the correct ones, then according to Companies House they have dissolved.

    Name & Registered Office:
    CENTRAL CAPITAL
    66 WIGMORE STREET
    LONDON
    W1U 2SB
    Company No. 01164622

    Status: Dissolved 10/02/2010

But try not to worry at this stage - if this is the case, depending on what year you taken out the loan you will be able to make a claim through the Financial compensation Scheme (FSCS).

If they are listed with the FSCS, your claim will be dealt with by this company.
    http://www.fscs.org.uk/contact-us/

For instance when you taken out the loan, if they were regulated by the FSA etc, then you will be okay to claim through these.

If not then contact the financial ombudsman service (FOS) where they will lead you in the right direction, if your unable to make a claim through the FSCS then normally they suggest another avenue, for instance the insurer/underwriter instead.

However, hopefully all will be okay, either way there is a way.

But glad I checked on this.

You could double check with the Financial ombudsman service (FOS) anyway and they will be able to confirm if Central Capital have dissolved and will therefore possibly advise the FSCS direction.
    http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/contact/index.html

There is also a thread below of people including myself that have made successful claims through the FSCS, so what happens is, although the business have gone bust/dissolved etc, it then may take a little time before the company are declared in default, but as soon as they are, then the payouts will be made by the FSCS.

    More on the FSCS of others experiences here;

Hope this helps, there are ways round this.;)

I have a similar issue with FP and their agent 'Brite Finance' who has gone bust.
check out http://firstpluscomplaints.co.uk/ there are a lot of people with the same issue and templates of letters covering your situation.
Apparently the FOS is holding FP responsible for the action of it's agents.:)
I would follow Di's advice as well as having another go at FP

    god now im confused.

I have been looking through all my original paperwork and the copy of the loan agrement, now all the paperwork i have is all headed with Firstplus except from one page that has no header but does a footer in the smallest font that says central capital, now this is the one page that firstplus decided to send me a copy of when they replied and told me the complaint has been passed to central capital just on fri there, the must have ignored all other six pages with there logo.

So is this just a foboff and i should resend them a letter back with a copy of the full agreement i have with all there letterheads.

I also take onboard the other post above that the FSA are holding Firstplus acountable for all brokers used.

I have attached the address from the Central capital stuff i have in my original pack it differes from the address above.

    Central Capital
    Edward Hyde Building
    2nd Floor
    38 Clarendon Road
    Watford
    Hertfordshire
    WD17 1JJ.

I think im going to send firstplus another letter stating i fele that there responsible as there the loan provider complete with a full copy of the laon aggrement, original complaint questionaire and anything else to back my claim.

In addition to this i will also send a letter to the Central capital address complete with the complaint questionaire and a copy of firstplus reply stating their responsible.

    what you guys think?

    Ta.

    Hi there

And yes this can be confusing, even though its arranged through a broker the paperwork will be that of the lenders.

What you could do is pursue both and see what happens.;)

i am going to send both letter away tommorow, however i do not expect a reply from central capital if there are no longer trading, however the website is still live, i would assume this would have been closed down if no longer trading.

    who knows right.

I would see what comes back, but what you could do to make sure, because I'm sure they would know, is contact the FOS as a general customer query, tell them you have a reclaim to deal with and you would like to know if they are aware or not if Central Cap are still active, they should be able to confirm this to you.;)
At least you will know what direction to take then.
