Well, I've looked around for good options for daughter, and staying put for the 1.5% isn't too bad right now! She also holds some bank preference shares, so her overall income/yield isn't too bad.
I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.

Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.

Actually, it's going down on the 14th (this Wednesday) - see post #593

You know... I never even rec'd the letter, only saw it mentioned here. Asked in branch earlier this month and they had no advice or guideline that the interest was going down, were certain it was still 3% for the foreseeable.

Santander 123 sounds intereting for 20k, is their any switchcing incentives for their current account?

I was thinking of stocks and shares Isa's, but theres an element of risk.

TCB and Imutual probably have the offer as well

Thanks, sounds like the it's the best option for easy access. My FHS balmce isn't much more than 20k anyway, will stick the rest in an ISA

Ok, odd. Having went into a branch today to discuss opening up a 123 for the purpose of shifting the FHS balance across, I was told that my FHS is still paying 3%. Knowing Santander, maybe there systems are slow to update. I'm not sure what to believe...

It is 1.5% you should have had a letter stating that was going to be the case but you can check online if you want:

  • I just checked that link and it said 3%....??
  • Bumping this as online (as at 11th February) it is still saying 3%. Given the history of Santander messing things up (and particularly with this account), I wonder if it is still paying 3%.

Also wonder where would Santander stand from a t&c perspective, if it's saying one thing online, and another via a letter (which some posters are saying they never received)

I got my statement recently (after the rate changed) and the new rate is listed on the front page.
