bear in mind there is no guarantee that, having jumped through hoops to satisfy this dissatisfied/ picky/ and /or lying buyer, they will leave you positive feedback! you can do all you can do with refunds etc and they may still leave a neg - or they could give you a sort of ok feedback and then revise it to a neg. so pls don't bend over backwards thinking that your good grace will generate you good feedback. sorry you've had such a hassle over this - one bad buyer can really spoil your day and experience on ebay.0

True, but the better you are as a seller the smaller the proportion of negs is likely to be.0 -
As others have said, wait for them to return the bag, do not mention anything about refunding the return postage at this stage. Once you receive it back you can then make the decision whether or not to refund the return postage.
If they are trying it on they may not bother sending it back as the return postage will probably account for half of the refund they would get.
Mistakes do happen, I have overlooked snags & faults before, very easy top do with a second hand item. Its the way you deal with it that matters now.
If you have the bag back in your hands then at least you can sell it on, describing (if necessary) any faults it may have. If the bag has been deliberately broken then Im afraid there isnt alot you can do about it, apart from relieved that it was only worth £5.50 & not alot more.
Dont get stressed out by this, it isnt the be all & end all of life.
Oh & could I please have the details of the amazon seller who refunded time & petrol costs aswell? I had to return a book recently before the replacement was sent out. I wasnt refunded anything for the emotional upset I went through, let alone the wear & tear on my shoes as I walked to my post office.0 -

It wasn't an amazon marketplace seller, it was amazon itself.0 -
You can not possibly expect the same quality of service from a private individual selling a few second hand goods on e-bay/through the local paper/ at a car boot sale as you would expect from a large multinational company like IKEA or Amazon (who actually are interested in your repeat custom) - it's completely unrealistic but unfortunately some people have very high expectations. The original poster did say that they stated excellent condition 'for its age'. Who would expect a second hand, 60 year old, cream hand bag to be in perfect condition? There is a lesson to be learned about very accurate descriptions and good photos I suppose

Hi everyone,
Things are looking good at the moment. As everyone suggested I messaged her again with a nice and thoughtful message, explaining I was as disappointed as she was and I would never try to mislead anyone because I wouldn't want to be mislead myself. I said that if she returned it I would be happy to refund the price she paid...£5.50. I didn't mention any postage and neither has she, but I did specify £5.50. She seems happy and has apologised for the problem and I have apologised profusely. It seems to be very civilised and atm she is being really nice now. I think she realises I'm not out to rip her off. From what she's said the bag definitely isn't in the condition I sent it in, so I definitely want to try to sort it with Royal Mail if I can...but I'll wait until it arrives back with me. Thanks for all the help. I'll let you know how it goes....

I have had to return something to amazon before and only got my return postage back, not aware or heard they pay extra costs and having just having a quick read of their returns section on their website i can only find that they return the postage to send back and doesnt mention any extras.
I know some sites like boohoo.com enclose a prepaid sticky to return but some other large companies dont do free returns or return the original postage, republic for instance dont return the orignal postage cost.0
