Hi there! This is the Old Style Daily Thread for Sat 12th June. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good
Morning.
Looks to be another fine day. Weather looks great for the coming week too. Good growing weather, fishing weather and honey making weather for the bees.
Thanks for the anniversary wishes. I did get some flowers, went our for a meal and all that stuff, so not too bad a day.
Got plenty of work done too. Grass cut, plants potted. Fixed Dad's car exhaust, made up some more bee hive boxes in anticipation of the warm summer.
No idea what to do today. Royal Cornwall show is a possibility, but I would rather save money....
Anyway have a good day.......

Good Morning N9eav and all to follow. Didn't manage to get on here at all yesterday, fairly busy! I really enjoyed my first euphonium lesson on Thursday - not sure what the neighbours will think when I practice tho'. 3 blind mice off key! Visit to DS was so much better than last week - he seemed virtually back to normal again, thank goodness. They're still fiddling with his meds, but must be getting there. We collected DGD from nursery school and took her home. He's dying to get home again properly - hopefully not too long now.
Yesterday I managed to get into Chelmsford for my course and then spent the afternoon hanging around for the plumber (who didn't arrive). He's coming to see about putting my WM out in the garage - but I'd like it sorted before the new kitchen gets underway in 2 weeks time, so will need to ring him again on Monday methinks. We have friends visiting overnight on Thursday from Florida so I need to get two bedrooms sorted early next week. Also want to get a wasicoat for DH cut out - he's been saying for ages he wants one and it occured to me I could make it before our wedding anniversary at the end of JUly. 40 years...how did that happen so quickly?? Anyway I think I'm going to spend time today planning out the next few weeks. I suspect I ought to be boxing up my kitchen contents fairly soon and I'm not looking forward to that at all! Have a church meeting this morning (means coffee and croissants so quite looking forward to that!) and then need to do some shopping. Not sure about this afternoon. I expect DH will be wanting to watch the football at some stage too! Anyway, I'm wittering! Hope you all have a good Saturday. Take care.Resolution:

Morning :hello:
We've booked our tickets for the River Cottage Autumn Fair :j We're going on the sunday, Mr tru has booked the monday off so we need to find a nice B&B for sunday night.
We've just bottled some elderflower champagne and started some cordial. The kitchen smells lovely
We've also pickled two large jars of eggs.
I need to thin out the carrots and beetroot today.
I've never been 100% happy with my bread. Mr tru went to see his mate (he's a baker) and he said the supermarket bread flour isn't that great. For £3.20, he gave us a third of a sack of flour, a block of yeast, 3lb of improver then slung in 4 cream cakes and 12 dripping cakes
What with that and my trip to Boots, where I got some make-up and a foot file for free - well not free free, I paid with my points - I am very happy

Hi All
I have never posted on here before but found the forum a couple of weeks ago and am in awe at some of the projects you do! Anyway, I am very excited to be going to the PDSA Vintage Day in Coventry today. I don't know if this is Nationwide or local but am looking forward to a good rummage for fabric in particular. I will post details of my collection (if any) when I get back. Thought this might be useful to others.

Morning gang
belated anniversary wishes to mrs & Mrs N9eav, enjoy your day today whatever you decide to do.
I`ve been an extremely busy bee over the last week or so and the garden is coming on a treat, everything is growing really well - unfortunately so are the weeds  and i`ve been struggling to stay on top of everything and go to w*rk as well.
The kitchen is almost finished and i`ve now put all the food and most of the crockery back in there, i just have a larder unit to sort out as it was a last minute change of mind type decision so thats sitting behind the sofa waiting to be put together and then i can order the new fridge freezer so everything is coming together nicely
Family are all away on hols and so are our neighbours so i`ve got three gardens full of plants to water each day thats a couple of hours each day including a drive to one so i`m pretty much busy until late each day so i`ve not done all my catching up
Normal service will be resumed soon when everyone is home and i can settle back into a routine
Anyhow must dash, hope that everyone is well and (((HUGS))) to all who are under the weather.

Morning everyone.
Heading over to the school this morning to help tidy up etc, paint outside furniture. I could do with doing my own housework but would like to be able to offer some support to the school in other ways besides the endless requests for money or bottles of "something".
DS has woken up in a foul mood
Hope he cheers up once we are at school otherwise I think I will be gagging him LOL!
Nice and breezy here with a few patches of sunshine so hopefully things will warm up as day progresses.
Not much OS today
Me and H are off out for a bite to eat tonight as an early wedding anniversary celebration. It's technically a week today (and we actually got married on a Saturday too) but my parents are away so not babysitters. Just going to have a nose at places to eat in mo.
Oh I've just eaten 2 HM choc chip muffins for breakfast - does that count as OS? :rotfl: Did them for the kids and they don't appear to like them
Tru - lucky you with your frugal finds! I hope the bread turns out OK for you.
Bexster - enjoy the Vintage Day, Coventry isn't too far from me but sadly I have other committments today.
beemuzed - really glad to hear your DS is looking more like his old self. Hugs to you all - I hope he's back with his family soon xxxx
Hugs to those MIA - Diva, Ladygrim, Lamewolf - sorry if I've missed off anyone important
Have a good day OS or not.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife

I am currently sittig in the lounge with the patio doors open and its glorious I can smell the sea.
Going for stroll around Chi whilst the Girls are at cycle club have to lok for birthday gift for Father in law.
Visit to Blockbuster to use T's vouchers so we have a better option than the football. hahahaha sorry England.:rotfl:
Every thing is looking rosie in the garden, my plum tree was only planted last year and it is full of Victorias. Lillies look like they will open soon and strawberry plant rescued from garden centre bargain bin is showing enough fruit for one or my pavlovas. mmmm
lots to fit in today, gym, baking, hm pizza, dog walk, shall enjoy it all
hope the sun shines on you all :)this weekend

Good Morning All
Bexster - enjoy your vintage day - sounds great.
Feeling aaarrrhhh this morning, woke with bad back pain. Must have slept funny. Am now walking a bit strangely and can't move my neck.
Have dosed up on painkillers and am about to take DS to an all day football tournement. OH can't do it as he is currently in Peterborough working.
On the plus side the sun is already trying to come out, so will take my picnic chair and sit and read whilst DS playing.
If the weather stays nice will be having a barbeque tonight, have some friends coming round to watch the football.
Better get going as everything is taking me twice as long today!
Have a great Saturday & c'mon England :jx0 -
Morning all
Another one here who started the day with a cuppa in the garden, I have strawberries nearly ready to pick & lots of rhubarb, yummy.
Need to drop some stuff off where hubby works today & pick up a mirror & wastebin, both brand new, both being thrown away!
When we get back hubby will watch the GP qually & I shall do some sewing, I have a sailor dress all cut out ready to sew for DGD.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning All
Not been able to post all week - don't know what happened!! DD was given a few days off work so headed to see grandparents in Sheffield so I thought I would have a nice quiet few days. DS2 came home for a few days on Tuesday and did quite a few jobs for me. He cut up the big plastic water tank in the loft and got that down (need to phone the woodworm folk now). He has also tried to rabbit proof part of the garden so I can use it for veggies. (He started this last year but it didn't get finished!). A project he started 2 years ago in the garden (can you see a pattern forming here?!), that involved a water feature that has just had stagnant water in. It has now all been filled in and has a fire pit in it. I have to say that it looks quite good. Well done to DS2 - finished three jobs! :T
Am trying to catch up on washing now, have already stripped two beds and just about the do the third. It's sunny and breezy here so should be a good drying day.
Taking DD to try to sort out gap year to Oz this morning, I can feel more money leaving my bank account! DS1 has gone to Rockness with GF so hoping for good weather for them.
Made lovely cookies the other day but sadly between the 3 of them they are all gone! Will have to make some more goodies, probably tomorrow as the weather doesn't look so good for then.
Have a good weekend all and hugs to all who would like one!0 -

Just noticed your location, I live very close to you, within about 4 miles, hello OS neighbour
Morning all,
Bright beautiful day here, I have the first of three loads in the wm, so will get that all done and out today.
Today we have lots of running around and little jobs to do, would like to get all the outstanding bits and bobs done this weekend, I am also watching a beautiful dresser on Ebay, its pick up only and very close to us, but I am waiting to hear the exact measurements, it might be a little bit tight, but its beautiful in a shabby chic way, and at the moment very cheap
Meatballs for dinner tonight, its OH turn to cook, I did a mini Tru last week,
, so Fridays DD cooks, Sat its OH and Sunday its a team effort, the rest of the week I don't mind doing, as either I am off or finish first, so meatballs tonight in front of Dr Who :T
NPM 4 sleeps done
you are on the downward straight now :T hope you enjoyed your night away xx
Hugs to all in need, have good days all xx0
